Random retail therapy finds and decor indulgences…

I started this post days ago but of course wordpress was trippin’ and it didn’t save. Anyhoo, these gorgeous floor vases were at Pier 1 and would look nice in several areas of my home.

This lamp would be a side table’s piece of jewelry. You can’t tell but the inside of the lamp was a deep plum color. Very pretty….

I thought adding some gold to a succelent arrangement was clever…

I went to Habitat for Humanity Restore and found this acrylic block for two bucks. Funny because I literally googled lucite bases several months back for a DIY project. I put it under some coral in my bathroom. It was going to be temporary but I may leave it there…

Got this lamp from there too for $10 which is a score in my eyes because I always wanted a drafting lamp like this. They remind me of picture lights…

My niece in the picture! I went thrifting yesterday and bought the table with the glass for $6 which I’m debating about. I saw a blogger use some sort of marble adhesive paper to cover shelving and I love the idea but her source was a bit pricey. I kind of want to do that and silver leaf the edge and legs to match the chrome and stainless steel appliances in the condo I’m soon moving into. I think this could be a nice little kitchen table as I’m really not a sit-at-a-kitch-table-to-eat kinda girl. The area calls for a small table and it would be placed in front of patio doors. At the same time, I love the idea of draping fabric over it and having it puddle to the ground as an entry table with a large orchid and a pretty bowl for keys etc. Oh,shout out to the parentals fir letting me store the stuff at their house.

This chair (I bought two) came from Habitat. I went back because I saw them & didn’t stop thinking about them which is a great tactic when you’re unsure of something…just sleep on it. I already messed around and lost a tufted velvet bench I been stalking at Marshalls (to a customer who was shopping while I was in the store…talk about pissed. I kept walking around debating on if I should try to squeeze it in my car and went back to the area and it was gone) so I didn’t want to risk losing these. They were 20% off so I got them for $12.50 each. I plan to reupholster them, paint the wood glossy black and the nailheads gold. Still debating on fabric. I’m toying with a cobalt blue velvet or a furry white fabric…

I start a new project next week and these wooden crates from Marshalls would look great for the industrial kids play area/rec room to store their toys. I would probably paint them vibrant colors though. They have an exposed concrete wall and I want to include a lot of raw materials to go along with it…

I am also painting a tree in the little girl’s room for an enchanted forest fairy theme. Saw this ribbon at Hobby Lobby which looks like bark and moss. I really want to use it so trying to figure out how…

I went to a lighting showroom here in Milwaukee called City Lights and loved the glamour…

It was this beauty at BBC Lighting that took my breath away….

These were on sale for only $149 I think. They would look nice anchorimg a bed over two nightstands….

They had a few fixtures I want for my condo and great affordable prices for a lot of them. I thought this utensil themed one was quirky and fun…

A few weeks ago I attended a house party of a family friend and was so glad I was the first one there because I was able to take a ton of pics of her home. I had decor envy. So much goodness from Pier 1 and thrifted finds. She scored this mirrored bar cabinet half off.
image
She prefers to display art on the walls and family pics in frames which is exactly how I like to….

This isn’t a great picture but the curio in the background she bought from the Goodwill for $20!

This chandelier she bought at a rummage sale for $5 and she had a fireplace mantle (unpictured) she also bought at a yard salw for $6. I couldn’t believe it. Again, why don’t I ever find great things like this?
image
Every inch and nook of her home had a pretty piece of furniture especially mirrored cabinets and tables.

Feathers, sequins, and velvet pillows galore…

Another thing I liked is that she actually lit her candles. Do you know someone that has candles everywhere that aren’t used? I hate that. This home was filled with wonderful aromas and a warm ambience which is important for creating a certain type of atmosphere. Not to mention, you can really increase the rooms temperature without having to turn the heat up…

Lastly….these beauties are in my client’s home. The previous owner left them for her. How lucky is she? So magical how lighting makes a room…
