Pt 2 of Holiday Party Ideas: Casino Board Game Night

image

I love a good old-fashioned game night. Throw in cocktails and dress up attire and you’re on your way to a fun filled Vegas themed party. I am buying a condo and one of the first things I want to host is a game night. It would be awesome if I knew a blackjack dealer and bartender but even if the drinks are self-served, it’s sure to be a hit. This post has some party inspiration for your next get-to-gether or New Years Eve bash… If you haven’t read it, you can read Part 1’s wine & cheese tasting party idea here.

The decorations are virtually things you may have on hand. If not, go to the Goodwill and grab a few games to complete the look. Dominos, puzzle & scrabble pieces, cards, poker chips are all great for centerpieces.

Fill martini glasses, Dollar Tree vases and mini fish bowls with the items. Plan on having kids present? Then use battery operated candles that flicker. This is also a way to get use out of a board game with missing pieces or an incomplete deck of cards…

Set up a signature drink or two in dispensers or pitchers and encourage guest to pour it up themselves, freeing you of bartender duties and allowing you to enjoy the party…

Use those board games you won’t play as placemats for the food table…

I think this could be a fun kid’s birthday party idea. Have the kiddos over your house and set up as many card tables & games as you can. Let them entertain themselves for hours. It’s cheaper as you won’t have to pay a venue fee or price per head…

Cards will make the cutest banners. All you need is time and patience to either weave fishing line through them or glue them together….

If you’re having an adult get-to-gether use lots of feathers…

You could even host a game night monthly or weekly and only do one or two games per night to keep it fresh. There are so many games that it would take months before you repeat…

Scrabble pieces and glue can make coasters…

Party favors could be a beer mug filled with cigars, mini spirits, peanuts, gourmet popcorn, cards for adults and for kids have candy, single player toys like Jacks (showing my age), puzzles & glow sticks in gift bags.
