It’s almost that time. If you are a last minute decorator, head to your nearest dollar store now. With tissue paper, carboard, metallic sharpies, craft paper, scissors and glue, you can jazz up for a party relatively quickly. For starters, you get some washi tape and tape them around basic glasses. If you need more stemware, seriously….a dollar store will come in handy. Sharpies are great for writing your own slogans on black balloons. Pipe cleaners are excellent to bend and make crowns or jazz up drink stirrers. Cut tissue paper in fringe style for backdrops or DIY tassled banners. Tissue paper can also be used to make confetti.
You know those faux silver plated dollar store platters? Buy some. Nobody cares if it’s not real silver. People are too busy trying to get tipsy. They are disposable so you don’t have to worry about cleaning them up. They even have faux disposable china and utensils that elevates the look versus your typical paper products. Even if you mix and mingle with white serving platters, it will still flow. Notice how they used the square Dollar Tree candle holders to give that platter some height? Buy some of those. If you entertain even a little bit, those square candle holders come in handy for so many things without breaking the bank. Get some. Dollar Tree also has their Christmas stuff 50% off. (yeah I know, I didn’t realize they had sales). Get some of the gold and silver oranments and stars to float and scatter around. They are cheap so if they break, who cares! I love this backdrop. You van easily hang black foam core boards or craft paper behind a table. Use the sharpies to freehand different fonts…
You can either use premade numbers or cute them yourself to make a banner with string or fishing line. It’s a little more time consuming…
You can make hats with craft paper and a stapler and Christmas garland.
Remember the pipe cleaners? Basic headbands and some craftiness will get you these…
Taking some craft paper, gluing to popsickle sticks and sticking in any store bought cupcakes will surely make the cupcake stand more festive. Just add some rhinestones and craft paper to make the clock hands. Simple and something the kids can help with…
Taking 2 pieces of construction paper and folding it into an accordion and taking the ends and gluing to form a circle is all it takes to create a paper backdrop. Make the hands yourself and buy adhesive numbers to form clocks. Layer and intermingle with other store bought ceiling décor and you can have a festive fun backdrop for your party.
The fringe “door” curtains can easily be wrapped around premade numbers you can get from Michael’s. You can even cut out numbers or words from cardboard and recreate this yourself. Letting some of the strings dangle leaves it effortless and sloppy and prevents a panick attack if it’s not too perfect.
You know those old scratched cds you can’t part with? Make use of them by hot gluing them to Styrofoam balls. You can get the glue sticks and balls from Dollar Tree. Create mini disco balls or if you have patience, a really big one. Stick a hole in it with a wire hang to hang from a ceiling fan. (I never stuck a hole in a ball so maybe try that first before you actually glue them on)
It’s a little too late to buy these for New Years but how cute are the photo booth props?
However if you have a printer, you can always print these above from here. Bam! Instant party props.
So you might as well create some sort of a backdrop for this makeshift photo booth. Have a white or black sheet? Hang it with velcro against a wall. Throw some confetti and balloons on the floor along with inflated ones on the ceiling with a ton of metallic streamers.
Use wrapping paper to line and jazz up tables.
Sorry this post is late. My car was parked and hit by a
insert curse word here on Christmas and caused $1,200 worth of damage. Of course they didn’t leave a note. Pissed aint even the word. In addition to a few other headaches dealing with my leasing people, I have not had much time for myself or to blog. Things are slowly getting back to normal. With that said….I thank you for taking time to read, comment and hang out around these parts. I do appreciate the support. I wish you a wonderful New Year and fresh start to bigger and better “thangs”. Have fun and be safe!
