Here in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin we have been hit with snow. Not a lot but because the temps are under 25 degrees, the salt on the roads have been ineffective causing pileups all over the hwys. So many hwys have been shut down and the media encourages everyone to stay home if they can. You don’t have to tell me twice. Bad thing is, I have a pretty emty fridge and wasn’t prepared to be stuck home. So here is my idea of great ways to have fun at home during a snowstorm.
The first pic is of the cookies I baked…courtesy of Pilsbury (I’m a cook not a baker) and I may or may not have ate 6. However I’m out of milk so if I known it would snow, I would have had some on deck to wash down. So in conclusion….have milk and cookies.
This was my snowy view from my living room. The squirrels played and looked like cute animals versus rodents. There was a family of red cardinals that looked so pretty against the white snow covered branches. Kind of like a xmas card…
So while it’s snowing your kids may want to go outside and play. Have comfortable and warm outerware way before winter technically arrives so you can use it during times like this. Don’t wait till winter to shop for hats and gloves. Prepare soon as stores sell them….
Have a sled and know where the nearest biggest hills are in your area that is walking distance….
After working up a sweat outside, you’re sure to be thirsty and cold so warm up some hot chocolate. Have whip cream, marshmellows and peppermints handy for garnishing…
Some of you are fortunate to have fireplaces. Use them. If you don’t have wood to burn or know how to use it then have pillars of candles to light. There is nothing more festive than cozying up by a fire crackling fireplace…
Next up have a warm cozy blanket in the living room. Not one snatched from the bed but one kept in a basket for those lazy lounging reality tv marathon watching days..
Matterofact have some cozy sheepskin rugs to sprawl put on…
I know a lot of people wanted to go shopping but they could easily get a lot of wrapping done if prepared. Have at least some empty boxes handy and enough tape so you can start at any given time. Don’t wait till last minute to buy these items…
Have your favorite glossies or a good book to get lost in…
Always have different broths and frozen or fresh veggies on hand to make hearty soups and beans for chili. Don’t forget crackers….
Pamper yourself and don’t feel guilty for doing it. You probably don’t have time to unwind in a bubble bath long enough to turn into a raison so do it now. Make homemade scrubs with things you probably already have. Pay the kids $1 to rub your back with lotion.
Have any board games in a pile collecting dust? Well pull them out. Whether it’s just you and your honey or the entire family, make a few hours pass playing games….
Lastly…ensure your charger isn’t broken. Yep…mine is. Epic. Fail.
