My DIY semi success semi fail with a tassled geronimo balloon attempt

So I am obsessed with these ginormous geronimo balloons and the tassles. They are so incredibly fun and festive and so expensive. So I browsed many sites and kind of created my own tassles. See below.

Here is what had HAPpened when I made them myself. It all started with scissors and tissue paper that I folded and cut in fringes. I used a glue gun in the middle of the fold and placed the string that would be attached to the balloon, along the glue. After folding, I stapled the ends to secure it a bit then used sparkly pipe cleaner to secure it even more. I repeated process until I got this long tassled beauty on the right. Great right? Well…..they didn’t have the right color 36″ round balloons at the party store so I thought I could easily just tie this around a few smaller regular helium balloons. Right? Wrong. It weighed the small balloons down so much, I had to remove them and instead use the tassle fringe along a banister at the Burlesque party I styled. Disappointed wasn’t the word. So yeah….tassle fringe worked but you really do need the 36″ round balloons for it to work. #SEMIDESIGNFAIL.

I did notice this alternative at Party City so if you’re pressed for time, buy these.
