I have also spent entirely waaaaaaay too many hours searching online costume stores, going back & forth with myself on if I want to purchase from random sites, checking BBB on said sites to ensure authenticity and reading reviews only to buy my corset/tutu from a real lingerie company via Amazon. That free shipping gets ya! The corset is very pretty and I can’t wait to see the detailing in person. I’m the event stylist for my friend’s bday bash…
(Sidenote: isn’t it ridiculous how for a couple funky pieces of fabric costume stores charge $49 & $54 and more? Then you have to buy the hats, tights, gloves, and other stuff because it isn’t included. I’m in the wrong business).
The party will be at a club in VIP and we are going to tour it tomorrow. Unsure how many tables they have and if there will be a wall where I can set up a backdrop for a makeshift photo booth area but I sure hope so. Here are some cool sexy burlesque, moulin rouge, cabaret party ideas for a bachelorette, birthday, Halloween party or bridal shower.
I love this vintage Circus take on this party by Sensationally Sweet Events. You can use 40% off coupons from Michael’s and Joann Fabrics on one yard of fabric to create the curtain backdrop. Try the Goodwill or Salvation Army for old drapery you can cut. A lace background can also be made by cutting a lace shirt or buying wrapping paper. Damask would work perfectly too. Spraypainting a gold thrifted frame and spraypainting the glass with chalkboard can be used to write drink menus etc.
These ornate frames can be bought grom places like TJMaxx and Marshalls. They also have little ones in the dollar section of Michael’s. Use them for table numbers or fun facts about the lady of honor.
Bubbly…..gotta have bubbly. Presentation is everything and small cupcake stands or plates glued to candle sticks gives layering looks that make a dessert table interesting. See more of this fab party on Hostess Blog.
Make a cake feel taller by topping with feathers, masks and top hats. Stay away grom glittered ones, unless you don’t mind eating glitter.
Gotta wear a red lip…
Balloons with black ribbon…
Square candle holders, battery operated tealights, and rose heads with a little feather sticking out would look really nice. Anything with a dress form, even jewelry holders are nice. Michael’s has Eiffel Towers.
Hanging Parsian umbrellas uses up dead air space…
Lastly buy a canvas and have each lady sign their name with a smooch. It’s a fun alternative to a traditional guestbook and you can say you have a one of a kind piece of art. I have many more ideas so I can’t wait to see how this turns out…
