Before and Afters of my latest client…

image

As I mentioned before, I was hired by my friend who is in the Navy to design her apartment. She already had the major pieces (sofa sectional, chaise, side and coffee tables and bar cart) but I decided to save on some expenses by transforming items she already had. This was my first time doing DIY projects for a client. You can see the befores of the lamps, lamp shades, bar carts etc here.

Her apartment has great bones. Exposed brick walls, a huge opening from the kitchen into the living room area which gives it an open floorplan feeling…

Now for the after…

When you step into the apartment you see the newly transformed bar stools and bar cart which were both spray painted a champagne color. I wanted a metallic color that looked well with the mortar in between the bricks. Mustard high gloss walls look better against warm gold metals so I decided to go with a  brushed champagne color.  Plus the glassware from Italy has gold on them…

I painted the ceiling metallic gold with Martha Stewart’s brand in Tiger’s Eye. Ceiling painting is a beast. Anyone have pointers?

Spray painted the lamps & wrapped fabric from Jo-Ann’s in mustard. I wanted a color blocking look. So I painted the inside and base same hue with a contrasting shade color. Jonathan Adler was the inspiration…

We used uplights along the perameter of the room to give some ambient lighting. The divider is hiding an eyesore (air conditioner)

Wanted to display her momentos from her travels while at sea with the Navy…

This bookshelf also houses worldly travel finds. I wanted to give her a catch-all dish for change, keys, sunglasses and mail so that’s what the top shelf consists of. I also wanted a basket of slippers for guests to feel at home…

Wanted to organize a linen closet which is opposite the kitchen. Baskets does wonders for keeping things organized…
