Splashes of Color Holiday Decor and Interiors…

Who watches HGTV’s Color Splash with David Bromstad? *raises hand* I love the show and his out the box way of approaching design. With the show now in Miami, we really get a glimpse of how it is to take a risk and bring color in a space. Here are some designs worth indulging in not only for the holidays but everyday interiors as well…

How awesome is this whimsical space above? Kid would love this, adults would love this.

This is an easy display that can be done by anyone, including kids. All you need is ornaments, ribbon in different colors (Michael’s & Jo-ANN fabrics & make sure to use the 40% coupon from Sunday’s paper) and time. Instead of the usual hooks for ornaments, tie the ribbon in a knot and hang them over windows or fireplace mantels, chandeliers, even doorway entrances at alternating heights. This look can be used for other hues as well. I think it’s a fun way to create “garland”.

This office area is sure to inspire creativity. First, the archway of the entry is unique.  I am really into message boards and vision boards and have been noticing a trend of people hanging them up in office spaces. It’s a great way to stay focused on goals or whatever it is your board is about because you constantly see it and it’s always a reminder of what to do, where to go & what you want to achieve. This one is framed so the designer or homeowner made their collage into art. A super easy and simple way to add color to your wall. Either take photos that you love of your friends and family or simply snatch out pictures from magazines of things that inspire you. It could be anything from fashion related pics or travel destination pics….to quotes. You can find inspiration from anything when designing a room. Take a fun patterned or colored area rug and add accent colors based around that or use the pictures you have and find accessories to match those.

I love this. All the bones of the room are white & the splashes of color is in the art and book ends. Notice the books are all color coordinated like a crayon box. This ornate frame houses a ton of magazine clippings. Art is your interpretation and should be defined only by you.

Here’s my zebra  trend again!! I have such a zebra fetish. Painting the backs of bookshelves really makes the options on them stand out. Here, multi colored book ends and random knick knacks combined with a raspberry colored chair w/grommet detailing and fun pillows makes this space fun & not stuffy.

SO many details in this photo above. Tufted and upholstered seating, vibrant rugs, magenta doors & colorful wallpaper, ornate ceiling medallions…so much texture as well. There are many things that can be brought to life by color.
