Wedding Wednesday: Creative Guestbook Ideas…

When I designed my cousin’s anniversary party entry area, I wanted a guest book of sorts so I created a wishing well tree where people could write notes and hang it on trees. Click HERE to see it. When I styled a wedding this past April, I did something even similar. I used a brandy vase for people to put notes written on note cards. That can be seen HERE. There are many other ways you can bypass the traditional guest book. I like the above idea, allowing guest to type out their message, though that may be a daunting task for older generations not accustomed to typing. Make sure to have some pen and paper as well…

Fingerprints can create a beautiful image. I’ve also seen a “tree” version where it looks like leaves…

Love this idea. I actually debated about doing it for my clients. Paired with envelopes so they can “send the couple well wishes/advice” is even better…

Cute idea for people who are in the medical field…

Have a prop area with a Polaroid where guest can take pics of themselves and write a note.

Wedding Wednesday: Halloween Chic Edition…

Yeah there are actual people who love the holiday so much that they have weddings centered around it. I love Halloween too but…not this much. However these people managed to have some pretty classy affairs, despite the theme. What do you think?

Wedding Wednesday: Travel Themed…

When I first brainstormed about starting a blog, it was going to be geared to event planning because I was so sick of going to parties where the decor was very lackluster. But when it came down to it, I decided to blog more about interiors with some events here and there, since, interior design is what my degree is in and that is my first passion. I admit, I haven’t been great at bringing you all consistent party planning ideas. I mean there are some Shindigs like this Plane Themed Boys Party or this gorge Chevron Print Pink and Gray themed Bridal shower and even some great morning-after-slumber-party ideas with Breakfast Buffets.

But my poor series of Wedding Wednesday have fallen to the left and I promise to do better. I want to give you ladies (and….men) some inspiration for cost efficient, yet fabulous weddings. If you like the outdoors and are well traveled, you may appreciate what this couple did.

THIS travel themed wedding is super creative and adorable. It totally took the couples love of adventures to heart. Here’s some details as told by the bride:

Throughout our relationship traveling has been a passion of ours.   So we decided to go with a travel theme.  We started with our Save the Dates, carried it over to our invitations and throughout our reception details.

Our escort cards were compasses, our guest book/table was vintage postcards from the places we traveled spread on a gorgeous table filled with travel pieces, vintage luggage, wedding pics of our grandparents, and our table numbers were the countries we visited with a little story about our travels to that country.

Since our heritages are different we incorporated this into our wedding by having a cookie table with Dutch Specula’s (made by the groom’s mom) and Mexican Wedding Cookie’s (made by one of the bridesmaids) for our guests to enjoy.  Our thank you cards will also be pictures of us holding “Thank You” signs in Spanish and Dutch. (Gracias and Dank U!) We are also big campers and love s’mores, so we made sure to have a s’mores bar for our guests to enjoy around the fire pit snuggling up in the blankets we had in baskets for our guests to take home. We truly feel like it was a magical weekend that we will never forget.

So very romantic…

{Style Me Pretty}

A cool idea to have the bride and groom’s silhouettes for a bean bag game.   A perfect way to kill time during the cocktail hour…

Using guests baby pics is a fun alternative to the seating chart…

It’s also fun to use the couples throwback pics for the table numbers. A perfect conversation starter…

Wedding Wednesday: Beachy Indulgences

Some key things to think about if you plan to have a beach wedding. Check out the space at the same time of day as your ceremony to determine key logistics like: will guest be facing the sun and squinting? Also try to determine when the ocean or lake looks the prettiest. They say 15 minutes before sunset is best. If the reception will flow after the ceremony, think of casual seating to fit the carefree nature of the beach vibe. Tons of pillows, blankets and candles will create a magical feel. Paper lanterns and STRING LIGHTS does wonders for giving off a romantic glow. Airy sheer fabric, burlap, and shells are some popular beach wedding elements to help transform the space. Indulge in these photos (all via Pinterest).
