Battle of Celeb Pads: Adam Levine Versus Jonathan Adler

image

Arranged around an inner courtyard one open living area with a view is where Jonathan Adler lives. He has an indoor fire pit, skylights, and a groovy Palm Springs–style pool pavilion. Lisa Gray and Alan Organschi of the Connecticut firm Gray Organschi Architecture were hired, in addition to Hamptons builder Carlos Routh. The landscape was done by Vickie Cardaro of Buttercup Design Group…

Versus: Starburst mirrors…decorate with one or many…

I wasn’t on board at first with the trend…but I know I like them most when paired or quadrupled. So it got me wondering, do you prefer one starburst mirror or a wall filled?

Open floating shelves VS cabinetry with doors

image

In the past I’ve said I could never have open shelving in the kitchen. Although my cabinets are neat, I never want to feel obligated to have everything picture perfect should I be in a rush one day putting dishes away. But the more and more I see them, I really like the look. It gives off a diner feel. It’s a great way to open a space and prevent a galley kitchen from feeling closed in. The floating shelves gives an airy element to a room and if you have beautiful dishes, why not show them off? Colorful bowls can serve as function and decor by infusing color into the space. So what do you think. Open shelves vs regular cabinets???

Asymmetrical VS Symmetrical…

{The Aestate Tumblr}

Some people think symmetry in design is boring and too safe. I personally love it but if something isn’t symmetrical, I prefer that it’s at least balanced. By that I mean, if there is a console table with a lamp on one side and a plant on the other, I would want them the same height. If a mirror and a pic is hung over nightstands, I’ll need them to be hung at the same height. So what are your thoughts? First what do you think of this fabulous mirrored greek key console table? Such a statement piece…

Bookcases vs Built-Ins….

New series where I’m having two similar things in design compete. For this one I wanted to start off with one of my favorite design obsessions: decorating with books on shelves. I like floating shelves but I also like when they’re enclosed in a case. But lately there has been some really slick built-in designs. So which do you prefer…built-ins or bookcases?

Love this look, so sleek and clean. I also like the way the built ins act as a headboard…

This high gloss color is everything to me. Whether it’s blue or colbalt, blue lacquered paint is gorgeous…
