Society Social’s fabulous styling + great tips on throwing a shindig…

Where have I been and why didn’t I know about the Society Social’sMagalog? The pictures and how each one is styled is on point. They have some really cool bar carts & decor pieces but the magazine idea is great. Love the leopard wallpaper and everything else in this pic above..

The also has great tips about throwing a party. Tips that I liked most include serving food in vertical arrangements to free up space and prevent tables from appearing messy. I guess this is similar to what my wedding clients had when one of their food stations consisted of mashed potatoes (or sweet potatoes) served in martini glasses. They had a potato bar with all the toppings and it looked so fun on the table. They also had little shot glasses of tomato soup w/a triangle slice of grilled cheese on top. Another thing that popped in my head when thinking of vertical food displays is this unique alternative to a veggie platter…

Another genius tip is to label drawers and cabinets for when guest can serve themselves. Everyone doesn’t have room to have it all displayed buffet style so when encouraging guests to help themselves, make it easier for them. That way they don’t have to hunt you down to figure out where the silverware is or open a bunch of doors showing messy storage when aiming to find glassware….

Graduation Party Ideas…

I went to my lil cousin’s high school graduation last night (he’s going to the Army) and it got me thinking of ways to decorate these celebrations. What better than using the books you bought (if in college) or get some for cheap at the Goodwill or borrow them from the library. If you buy, tear out the pages & make runners for the tables or stack them up along the wall as a backdrop to a food spread. Use books and ribbon to elevate heights of platters for the tablescape & stream some as a banner. Gather images from childhood to this moment or just the high school or college years and form the year they’re graduating on the wall. In this case it would be 12. It’s a great way to laugh and take a walk down memory lane…
