**new series** Kitchen Options: Farmhouse Sinks

image

I pin so many images to my kitchen pinterest board that I figured I’d start a new series about different options because frankly, there are a ton. First up farmhouse sinks…

image

I love the modern look of a slanted front above. Farmhouse sinks, also known as apron fronts because of the exposed frontal part, are typically a single basin. I like them because they flow into all design styles and not just country kitchens. They are very deep and great if you do a lot of cooking and need to scrub tall pots. The depth also reduces water splashes…

Farmhouse sinks come in a variety of finishes. I personally like copper most but you can also get them in stainless steel, bronze, fireclay, porcelain, cast iron etc. Kohler even carries decorative apron styles…

The roman shade is a nice classic option for kitchens as well. This area above may be in a butler’s pantry because of the wine cabinets below….

An eclectic white home tour that actually feels warm…

image

I like this home tour because it goes to show you that you can have white walls, white drapery and white cabinets and still create warmth with the materials, textures, and colors used for furniture and decor.

The many uses of a side table…

Side tables are an incredibly practical accessory that aren’t used enough in interior design plans. In order to illustrate the versatility of the side table, we will be looking at the various uses of them throughout the home.

image

The Lounge

The lounge is perhaps the most obvious place to feature a side table. Many people sit them at the side of their couches to provide a base for table lamps and a place of rest for warming mugs of coco on an evening. While this is an undeniably practical use, why not consider your side table as a piece of art too?

Retailers of modern furniture , like Vita Interiors, have a great range of statement side tables. This interesting pyramid piece provides a modern twist on a standard design, while keeping practicality intact. It is sure to become a talking point in your living room, admired by all who visit.

Simplicity is sophistication…

image

A carefully edited home is what some strive for. Clutter eliminated and décor selected in a way that leaves the space minimal but fascinating. A simplistic style to me is a one where the home owner or apartment dweller really gave thought to what they want to have. It makes me feel like the items in the space have to be especially important if it’s there and displayed.

image

There is something quite calming and relaxing about spaces like this. It’s the very reason spa’s tend to have those tranquil environments. A space that eases the mind and creates an atmosphere for peace. Yeah, a peaceful space is what we all want when we come home.

image

I like the clean lines and the beauty of the forms that are displayed from objects and furniture in a minimal design. I like this style in penthouses and places with panoramic views of deserts and oceans.
