Kourtney & Khloe Kardashian’s homes in Architectural Digest…

image

I always say Khloe is my favorite and her new home shows some of the reasons why. I’ve blogged about her gym closet recently here. However this new home of hers has some rooms I don’t ever get a glimpse of on KUWTK. I love Moroccan architecture with the ornate details and arches galore and designer to the stars, Martyn Lawrence Bullard gave her home a contemporary spin on that…

image

It’s more airy and neutral versus being rich in jeweled toned colors but the Turkish, Moroccan and Middle Eastern influences are there in the mirrors, lanterns, and side tables. The room I love the most is this tented living room that feels like a lounge area of an over the top wedding reception. I love that look because it’s definitely dramatic but airy and light. I created a GET THE LOOK that I will post tomorrow on achieving the same style for a budget with some of my favorite stores.

image

Martyn included a lot of his collaborations like some fabric selections. He is very known for eclectic and bold room designs with a lot of pattern. He used his Schumacher wallpaper that covered the 5th wall of Khloe’s family room, creating more visual interest to play along with the ceiling beams. I love the rug and how it ties in the cream and white palate. Speaking of, using cream and off whites create more of a cozy feeling than the contrast of bright whites and black. I find this color combination more attainable to live with than bright whites, especially for a sofa.

Love the outdoor lounge space…

image

This is Kourtney’s living room which is vast different from her colorful bold last home. It’s modern but comfortable for the kids…

image

I am actually looking to create this same look behind my bedroom nightstand and side table. Placing mirrors behind lamps helps to bounce light around so a room can feel brighter…

Tuesday’s Tips: one way to spice up a room

image

Stunning work by Spruce Interior Design over on Apartment Therapy. I like the symmetry by the fireplace. I also like the modern way of furnishing a conversation area. Let’s get outside of thinking about furniture sets and create more interesting spaces mixing styles and pieces. If that isn’t in the budget then think about incorporating different tables. Swap out side tables between rooms in your home to avoid everything being too matchy.

Beautiful stairwell. Head over to Apt Therapy to see more of the home.

Operation masculine rustic sexiness for my rec room…

image

I know. That’s a lot of styles for one area but I have made up my mind and I want the basement area to have all of that. I want to stir away from any girly items that you will find elsewhere in my home. I want it to feel moody and regal, sexy like a cocktail lounge, but edited and purposeful like a modern bachelor pad. I want there to be rustic elements and raw materials like wood and metal. I want pieces I would put in a loft present. Again, that’s a lot but that’s what I want.

image

I have black leather sofas in the living room that’ll eventually make their way to the rec room…

image

image

I have recessed lighting down there but I do like the caged pendant look. You can never have too many light sources…

image

This is really the only area I want wood items in my home. I bought a studded wood framed mirror from AtHome that I will eventually hang. The wood matches perfectly with a floating ledge I bought at Menards. I also will keep an eye out for some metal and wood bar stools for bar.

image

I have a trunk that I was going to paint and place in my office but have decided to use it in the rec room as a side table…

image

One wall is a deeper blue hue which will likely get changed. I haven’t given much thought about paint. I know I want it to feel modern but not too dark. Gray is always a good choice for that…

image

Have you priced pool tables lately? I didn’t realize how expensive the are. I want one but no time soon.. .

image

I like decorating in 3s for a really modern look….

image

I know I used this image before but I have been keeping eyes open for cushions. I flipped two bookstands on their sides to use as seating in the mean time. I just want to place some long cushions on top. I would love some camel hued seating somewhere down there.

image

image

As far as rugs, apart of me wants something very plush and another part of me wants a faux cowhide like the ones at Z Gallerie but I’m undecided.

Luxurious and grand…

image

Hello! I am doing a voice text blog post since I am still recovering from Wednesday’s hand surgery. I am supposed to keep my hand elevated so it’s a good thing I always have my phone in my hand. I came across this living room on Pinterest and it linked back to a page that I can’t translate. I’m not sure if all of the images are from the same home or hotel but they are all beautiful. I love when a really spacious room is filled with the right scaled furniture and artwork…

It’s like a piece of Emerald jewelry. This sideboard is perfect in a dining room as a buffet to store china and place settings or in a living room to hide dvds etc. It’s truly a statement piece…

This pixel inspired cabinet is so beautiful to me. The base is almost as pretty as the doors…

Today’s rocking chairs are stylish and nothing like your grandmother’s. Some of them have hidden rockers so they look just like regular chairs. I created a list of some that are modern and some that are traditional to outfit your baby’s room.

Monday Morning Inspiration 6.1.15

image

I love art displays with mixtures of wrapped canvases and large mats. I have compiled a small collection of pictures from magazines I want to put in my closet. I find fun in thrifting pretty frames too so I can’t wait to have enough where I can start hanging them…

image

This quote is very real for me as I’ve experienced someone that seems like they.just.cannot  compliment my work. This is a person I share projects with because I am passionate about it, not to brag. I share genuine interests in what my friends do so I expect the same. Maybe that’s my problem and no….everyone won’t like your work but it’s really odd when some people never have anything nice to say. When the compliment is backhanded or laced with shade. When their replies are dry and vague…sometimes I debate even sharing with them. I’ve had people say they can do what I do when it comes to party styling because they don’t want to pay for your services and then their party happens…..you realize they can’t. I’ve been told “I’m creative too” when someone didn’t want my services and then kept asking my opionion and wanting ideas. Thought you’re also creative? Not as if I need to feel validations because my client’s approval is all that matters. However I am content with my womanhood enough to share joys in what brings happiness to friends/associates.  I can compliment hair, outfits, portfolios and not think twice about it. I will never understand people who may like something but won’t let YOU know it. It’s always going to be someone bitter about something so they refuse to give you kudos.  Don’t let those people stop your show.

What are characteristics of your ideal bar stool?

image

Some like ’em modern with clean lines or unique with odd interesting shapes, some prefer natural earthy wood materials while many like the industrial metal styles. Some love the cafe style while others need one with a back. I like them all from upholstered to masculine ones but lately I’ve really been wanting metals stools. There are so many fun styles and you don’t need a cocktail bar to use a stool. If you have a bar height dining table, you can use them on one side for a different loo,a breakfast bar, the laundry room counter, etc. I also like them used outside under a thin ledge for drinks or against a back wall for additional seating or to balance an entry vignette by filling space.

Sleek black matte faucets and fixtures..

image

Now that I am settled in my condo, I look for ways I can make it my own and one of the things I really love is sleek black hardware especially against marble. Though I am not planning to add any marble anywhere…I don’t  think, but I would love black matte hardware in one of my bathrooms that has a gray, black and white scheme.

image

image

image

The contrast just does something to the space. It just has an expensive look even against plain timeless subway tile.

image

When combined with a unique basin and light pendants, you can create a really neat look…

Whether you use a stainless steel or black sink, the faucets looks great with both…
