Can we give a round of applause for this home?

image

This is very similar to my bedroom inspiration. A bedroom that has so many textures and creates a moody, modern, relaxing atmosphere with some glam and edge. Velvet, Moroccan wedding blankets, a plush rug, mirrored and chrome details are all elements I have and want for my bedroom retreat. It’s monochromatic but isn’t boring because it’s layered with textures to keep it interesting.

That’s not where it ends. Check out this living room space. The coffee table is a piece of art and the palette is calming and warm.

Although I hate the infamous hand chair, this room reminds me of something Kelly Wearstler would approve of.  I wish I had another angle of the banquette because it looks beautiful. I especially like how gold plays off the grays and the gunmetal chain drapes gives it edge. You can see the rest here.

Retail Therapy: AtHome Milwaukee is now open!

image

So this week AtHome opened here in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa’s old Kmart on Hwy 100) and I am in love. I have been following them on instagram for sometime so when I drove by and saw we were getting one, I was beyond excited. My coworker stopped there this week and told me she spent 2 hours in there. All I wondered is how is it possible to spend that long in a store that’s not Ikea. Then I went….

image

Yesterday I stopped in and they had cake slices and coffee since it was their 100th store opening.  I went down 75% of the store bypassing most of the Christmas aisle because….it’s not Thanksgiving yet.

image

They had some awesome pieces of furniture like sidetables, plant stands and small dressers…

image

It was the art section that killed me. When the lady told us “wait until you get to the art side”, she wasn’t lying.

image

So we walked down aproximately 10 aisles looking at art, decorative letters, clocks, metal and mirrors and wrapped canvases for 20 mins…

image

image

I mean….it was overwhelming in the most lovely possibly way. They had every metal whether gold, silver, gunmetal etc and every style you can think of….

image

They had art that would make cool headboards. The wood plank one in the upper left would make for a great statment in a rustic room especially if doubled on top for a tall bed backdrop…

image

I love skyscrapers so I scooped up this large canvas for only $49. Here I was, walking with mom thinking I scored when I looked around the corner….

image

We weren’t done with the art section! There was at least another 12 aisles or so more to browse….

image

Then we got to the end and turned the corner to see another 6 aisles or so of smaller pictures, blank frames & kids art. It was insane. It’s impossible not to find SOMETHING. As a matter of fact, you may have a hard time deciding what to put back…

image

I went home with one of the pink stylized tables. The black ones were $14 & $19! The prices were so good here…

image

You have to go toward the outdoor section too because a lot of the tables there can easily be incorporated inside the home. Tables as low as $39, $49 & up.

image

Now these were more pricey but I love the boxwood options for patio privacy…

image

I will be going back to get one of these. I have always loved potted topiaries and they look good inside the home as well as on the porch. The best part? They’re faux so no worries about killing them and having to maintain the shape!

image

Can we talk about pillows? I love them as much as the next girl but I can’t spend my client’s budget on two pillows for $300. I’d rather go to retail places and mix to create a cool look. AtHome has several color coded aisles of pillows and a lot were only $12.

Luxurious and grand…

image

Hello! I am doing a voice text blog post since I am still recovering from Wednesday’s hand surgery. I am supposed to keep my hand elevated so it’s a good thing I always have my phone in my hand. I came across this living room on Pinterest and it linked back to a page that I can’t translate. I’m not sure if all of the images are from the same home or hotel but they are all beautiful. I love when a really spacious room is filled with the right scaled furniture and artwork…

Grassy party backdrops…

image

A design trend I’ve noticed this year is greenery as a backdrop for photobooths or dessert tables. I love this classy elegant look to an outdoor summer wedding or party…

Having a lit marquee sign or uplights will be perfect for an evening affair…

image

This is one of my all time favorite reception lounge designs. I really like the mirrored pedastals and tables with the different mirrors. This is a great way to reflect light in a space while the sparkles of the lighting and candles bounce around…

What a cool July 4th backdrop….

Random retail therapy finds and decor indulgences…

image

I started this post days ago but of course wordpress was trippin’ and it didn’t save. Anyhoo, these gorgeous floor vases were at Pier 1 and would look nice in several areas of my home.

This lamp would be a side table’s piece of jewelry. You can’t tell but the inside of the lamp was a deep plum color. Very pretty….

Love it when I come across something different in design…

image

Too much white white white in rooms for my taste. I love a bold color scheme or at least a bold lively area of a home. This above I love! This vignette is so inspiring. It makes me want to take a wall with the shortest width and paint something like this or at least paint it on a very large scale canvas. The table, the extreme modern neon lamp, the accessories, and the mirror are all so funky and fun…

image

Love the floor, the art and the colors of the walls in here. Would I want it for a daily basis? No. However this would be fun to do in a guest room…

image

So many takeaways that I like in this space. The materials in the room from the flooring to the brass gold stools is all very complimentary…

Cubed mirrored tables…

image

I love mirrored furniture because of the glam factor. However mirrored pieces also reflect light (depending on how close the lighting source is to the piece) and multiplies the illusion of size.  I like the nesting table craze and using smaller tables in replace of a larger coffee table. So cubed mirrored ones are right up my alley.
