Home Life: My accessory table pt 2 + Unhinge Hardware collabo

image

Yesterday I showed you what I done with my accessory table. In case you missed it, click here. Today I’m giving a few more details. I collaborated with Unhinge Hardware to have an area by my table for hanging shirts or outfits of the day. This is in an effort to get myself to be a bit more consistent with preparing for work the night before…

image

What I like to do more than anything is figure out what jewerly I will pair with what shirt. I hate getting ready in the morning and putting on an outfit and realizing my jewelry is all wrong. Seriously, I am big on jewelry and need to start figuring all of that out in the night so that I can get up and out the house in 30/40mins…

image

I used Unhinge Hardware’s Soho rope hook. I sometimes buy things that are so pretty, I simply want to look at it. That’s how I felt about this mermaid hued sequin cropped top from H&M that I pair with a sheer peplum for coverage. When I don’t have clothes hanging, I will simply add a few everyday scarves or my purse…

image

Under the table I have blurred dirty clothes and pretty laundry baskets which I bought at Marshalls. I really want to put a chair here or two small ottomons one day but in the mean time, the laundry baskets fill up the space…

image

Always have a sheepskin rug somewhere. Mine came from.TJMaxx and the table from Ikea

image

The orchid picture and vases also came from TJ Maxx but the small painting I done myself at Splash Milwaukee, a wine & paint bar…

Home Life: My accessory table pt 1

image

Today I am sharing a little bit of homelife with you: my jewelry/accessories table. I hope you enjoy. I am trying to bring some more personal snippets to the blog. Anyone who knows me knows I love me some fashion jewelry. Dainty? Not my thing. Unless I pile dainty rings on multiple fingers and layer dainty necklaces. Bring me the bold stuff anyday…

image

Remember when I DIY’d this art here out of pillows?

image

My rings are my prized possessions. I feel naked without a big cocktail ring on…

image

So I simply set up everything on my Ikea desk table…

image

This was a lucite box gifted to me at the Container Store’s blogger preview (you can read all about that here).

image

I keep another acrylic organizer in my closet for nail polish but the go to colors are on this table…

image

Believe it or not, I have odd things in these boxes. One has teeth that fell out as a kid. You know…for keepsakes. Another has spare sets of car keys. I try to use as much as I already have for storage instead of buying a ton of new items…

image

I bought this acrylic felt lined jewelry organizer from TJMaxx for only $7.99. I like to keep my metals separated so I can easily grab n go! There is a smaller acrylic box that holds safety pins. The Container store has so many in fun colors and sizes for small objects like that.

image

My favorite gunmetal and silver pieces…

image

I love the way my sunglasses are displayed. Some of them came from Sunglass Spot which sells every pair on their website for only $5. The Container Store‘s acrylic floating shelves are great for smaller lightweight items like this…

image

The small stackable round things I bought at the Goodwill years ago. They hide things I don’t want to see like charms that need fixing or random small items…

image

I just bought these fun tassled earrings from Macy’s.

image

The black velvet holders all came from Michael’s and they were 40% off…

image

I love how the jewelry contrasts and looks so shiny against the black….

image

My favorite thing on this table is the lace cat eared mask I wore for Halloween. I bought it at Charlotte Russee and it’s a different way to decorate a wig head. I’d rather not have my hats on display so this is much better. The styrofoam head came from Hobby Lobby..

image

This acrylic stand came from AtHome . I am sure it’s meant to be upright but I like it this way better.

image

I purchased a 3D velvet bust and a flat one from Michael’s. I wanted some of my favorite necklaces to be shown at all times. The white tiger necklace was bought from Akira and the turtoiseshell from Charming Charlie. The deer in the back, cuz you know, I gotta rep my Milwaukee bucks in some capacity, came from TopShop in Chicago…

image

It’s a beautiful organized mess…

image

Stay tuned for part two where I show you what’s under the table and the reason a shirt is on the wall…

The Container Store Opens Today in Milwaukee!!!

image

First, I apologize for the quietness around here. The last couple weeks have been busy, plus with updating my Portfolio and being under the weather, I haven’t felt like finishing blog drafts. It was just 90 degrees last week but fall temps and highs of 60 creeped in. I’m not ready. Anyhoo, I was invited to attend a special blogger preview of the new The Container Store Thursday. Insert excited emoji here. So soon as I rsvp’d I sent the request off from work. It was a noon affair with a store tour, free box lunch (I had the steak ceasar which was delicious), and we all were gifted $50 gift cards! This post has a lot of pictures. Sorry in advance…
image

Our gift cards came in cute lucite boxes which I’m using now for jewerly…

image

Sonja, who was out tour guide, was a great host. She told us how The Container Store really trains their staff with full time workers going through 260 hours and part time workers 177 hours of training. This is the first Wisconsin location to open and it is their 74th store…

image
Cuz you know…you have to have an aerial food pic…

image

We were sitting on the dancefloor. More on that later…

image

When we went on the tour of 16 lifestyle sections, we saw beautiful floral displays that were going to be transformed into 5 food stations for the evening shindig. I liked how creative they were in using items the store sells to create elevations. I think the brown slit crates were actually hampers. This was where the sushi station end up…

image

image

This food station was created with desktop file organizers and baskets.  They used real cabbages and artichokes. So pretty…

There was color everywhere…

Lucite bathroom hardware and fixtures…

image
I love the fluid and glam result you can get by using acrylic materials. I think in my condo, for at least one bathroom, I would like to update the rods etc to lucite options.
image
Hardware are details and jewels of rooms and when dealing with a small area of space like a powder room, you can most likely afford to make updates with higher end or quality materials as it will be much cheaper than doing a kitchen.

image
Another reason I like hardware updates: they are not exclusive to homeowners. Renters can also remove hardware and change out old ones to fit their personality. Just simply replace the old ones when you move. It’s tedious but if you plan to stay put for some years, you might as well make it your own as best as you can…

A glamorous home full of gorgeous light fixtures…

image

I saw this home office and immediately added it to my computer’s background. There isn’t much in terms of a lot of decor but the decor present makes a lot of impact. First, my love of black continues with a wall treatment done soley by using painters tape and a combination of flat and semi gloss paint in the same color. See more examples here. It’s so precise that it looks like wallpaper. The gold really contrasts nicely and that console table is stunning.  The use of a glass desk allows the beauty of the rug to show through as well as keep the room light and airy and prevents a heavy feeling which is important when using dark colors in smaller areas. Lastly the lamps and fixture are very nice pieces as well….

image

Then we have this entryway with a beautiful rug similar to this one which can easily hide dirt and a skirted console table which probably hides eyesores. You can see how a skirted table does that here

image

Unsure if this is navy or teal but the color is pretty and the white molding looks nice against it. I just love dark rooms. Some people find them depressing but it’s the selection of everything else that matters. When you use light drapery or bedding and have adequate lighting, it can create a nice moody feel that isn’t somber at all…

Bold bathroom tile & wallpaper designs…

image

Soon I’ll be moving to my condo I’m buying and though it is move in ready, I can’t wait to be able to give my personal touch to things. One way you can do that is the bathroom. There isn’t a lot of wall or floor space usually so wallpapering a powder room or laying higher end flooring shouldn’t be too costly because you have a small area to work with.

image

It also may fit your budget if you splurge on marble for the bathroom sink vanity versus in a kitchen for countertops. You can sometimes find affordable slabs of stone that can get cut and sized to fit your needs in hardware stores or tile shops. A lot going on with patterns in the above bathrooms but it all works because it’s in the same color scheme…

image

I love how this bathroom has two mirrors on opposite ends giving it the illusion of a larger area….

image

Vertical stripes will make the ceiling of a bathroom feel higher…

image

The dentil molding in this bathroom is everything! I plan to add some sparkle to my walls and ceiling with chandeliers. Even a flush mount fixture will be enough to add some ambience to a bathroom or hall…

image

Changing hardware, lighting and decorative mirrors can add the oomph you need to tranform a bathroom into a fabulous space…

Love the furniture in these interiors…

image

{via}

The curves and nailheads of this chair and that headboard is fabulous. Yes the details of decor and accessories does make a space but just as important is the big pieces of furniture. I adore an interior with a chair or sofa that captures your eye. It’s kind of like a statement piece of jewelry. Here are some pins from my Decor & Furniture board on pinterest and what pieces I liked.

How chic and classic…all white upholstered chair…
