Grays is a neutral hue that looks fabulous when paired w/any color…

{via Lori Graham Design}
So yesterday was quite dreary and the other night we had thunderstorms (which I live for). But while commuting to work I noticed how lovely the tops of trees look against the gray sky. Made me think how many colors gray can be paired with. As much as black is my fav color, I feel gray is neutral enough but dark enough to make saturated hues pop. Just look…the above design I love. The black and white is ever so classic, but the pop of georgia peach is even better. The gray looks good with both tones…

I’ll take this chandelier for $200 Alex….

Love burnt orange for fall and this modern decor is it. Velvety sofa? Perfect for autumn. By no means am I suggesting to switch your main pieces of furniture with the seasons because that’s expensive & just ridiculous. This image just screams fall to me….

Cranberry & gray is a much better pairing than black and reds because gray is less jarring…

Beautiful contrast between the gray & turquoise. You know me, I love my TURQ hues…

A nice little tufted gray and camel KITCHEN NOOK….

This dandelion chandelier & the BLUSH hued pinks that we seen in Jennifer Lopez’s home is so girlie. But I still love THIS vintage gray & pink room the best…

I love this look. It’s a little unexpected for me. When I think of grays I usually pair it with silvers and gun-metal. At least in wardrobe so to see it with gold and bronze accents is a nice surprise. I love BAR CARTS. Even if you don’t entertain, it looks so stylish to have your “spirits” on deck in such a fancy way.

A bright taxi cab yellow & gray color scheme…reminds me of THIS inspiration from nature. That backsplash is very bold. I wouldn’t suggest that if you’re planning on selling your home soon (unless you don’t mind changing it) as you will certainly limit the buyer pool. You want to stay as neutral as possible. (For more designing for resale tips, see THIS). However if you plan to stay awhile, I would completely personalize the space too…

I’m excited to be off today & would love to be in these interiors…

I decided I wanted an extended weekend so I took some paid time off for today. Fixing a nice breakfast and feasting on it in this beautiful KITCHEN NOOK would be so pleasant right about now. There is so much natural light flooding the place that you can’t help but feel cheery there…

It’ll be even nicer to soak in a warm bubble bath here…

And though my birthday is one of the last few days of summer, you can’t tell that to our weather which was 91 the other day but a low for tonight at a chilling 52 degrees. Yep, fall is definitely around the corner. So taking an afternoon snooze by a fireplace like the room above would be so nice right about now…

Benches + Chairs+ Table = Comfy Cozy Nooks…

One modern way to design a dining or kitchen space is to create as much seating as possible. Typically nooks or benches have more space. Placing different chairs on surrounding sides and a bench, ottoman or sofa on the other creates an interesting look. The worst thing you can do most times is having matching sets. Yeah it’s cheaper but a well designed space will marriage different styles of furniture. I personally think NOOKS of all  kinds are comfortable and casual. Having them creates a welcoming feel.

Mariah Carey’s Lavish Nursery…

My all time fav singer is Mariah Carey since the vision of love days. I adored all 30 minutes of MTV CRIBS where we were able to glimpse into her home from the incredible closet bigger than my entire apartment to the country kitchen smack dab in the middle of Manhatten (which started my love of KITCHEN NOOKS). So I expected nothing short of fab for her nursery.

I love oversized animals mainly because I’m an animal lover but I think it brings some whimsy and fun to the space. Some people can go overboard with the cutesy themes that it looks….well….tacky. Bringing in some animal elements like a zebra rug to giraffe print toss pillows on a rocking chair would give the same feel without being too themey. The chandelier gives the room a hint of glam and the color scheme is very gender neutral.
