Celeb Homes: Ivanka Trump

image

Complete opposite of her dad’s aesthetic, Ivanka has penthouse decorated with nice finishings but with a sense of liveable comfort. One may ask why disrupt the view of the floor to ceiling windows with a dresser but I think it’s a way to keep some privacy…

The monochromatic room is gender neutral and calming. Love the wallpapered ceiling…

This metallic mural is a pretty backdrop for the foyer…

I guess when I think of Ivanka, I wouldn’t envision this as her workspace. I do like the bold hue of the desk. And the cubed bookshelving is nicely styled and functional.

Picking up where the desk left off is a grid styled gallery wall of the same color. I like it a lot.

So I went to get my hair done….know what that means: Magazines! Here are ways to style them like books.

This is how I am when I get home with them all. I don’t have to subscribe to anything because I have a few coworker’s gives me theirs too. Lol. Happy camper…

Currently, I’m like this. In the bed with my pile on the side and a pile next to my lap. ..

Though I have my latte it isn’t perking me up so I want to do like her above. I still feel feel the medication I took because of not feeling well yesterday evening-the morning. I am fine now but still drowsy. Am I the only one who can’t sleep in? I have to get up..make breakfast…do SOMETHING before taking a nap but to sleep in? No. I feel like my day is gone. And since our days are getting shorter, (the worst part about entering fall), losing daylight time is a no go for me…

Now one thing about mags that I love is the cheap wall art ideas. I didn’t realize it until reading Boutique La Boheme, that framing snatch outs from mags is a good idea. I thought about taking covers from childrens books and framing them. Why not use same concept. Sometimes the photography of a photoshoot is too pretty to pass up..

Tuesday’s Tips: Use floating shelves & cabinets to create a desk in small spaces…

image
I was watching dvr’d hgtv’s For Rent last night & the designer created a workspace for the clients. The space was tight so instead of using a traditional desk with a lot of depth, she used a narrow wood shelf supported by two file cabinets. It fit the space perfectly and proved to be just as functional as a regular desk…

image

It got me thinking how many more people can benefit from the same idea. Especially people who don’t have a separate room for the office. For some, bedrooms need to serve dual purposes and laying in a bed with a laptop may not be the best place to produce the greatest work…

Or you can simple use a lucite dining table…in the middle of the living room as a way to get work done. Sometimes desks are big enough for what we need to do. Some of us like things to spread out all around us to spark creativity. It’s a method to one’s madness so feel free to use a table that’s suitable for your needs despite the table’s intended purpose. See here how a guy makes his dining table double as his home workspace & see here how a room intended for dining got transformed into a home office…
