New Lonny Mag is Out! My Fav Pic? Lacquered Cabinetry

The new issue of the online mag LONNY is out & this pic really captured my attention. I dig the lacquered look a lot. Previously I did a post on using the high gloss paint on FLOORS & one on WALLS but cabinetry and furniture are other areas where the look can be achieved. I also like the butcher block countertops. It’s a cool alternative to granite that you see prevalent in interiors and the contrast of the black paint works beautifully with it. To see more from the issue, click HERE.

Glossy Lacquered Painted Walls…

{Christina Murphy Interiors}

Since I did a High Gloss Painted Floors post I figured I would do one on walls as well. Ever since my all time fav singer Mariah Carey appeared on cribs & displayed her shiny hallway walls (a process she called “glazing” to make it look like candy), I’ve always had a fondness of lacquered finishes. As mentioned before, using a gloss paint will give you a deep saturated color.

There are some negatives. Anything with sheen shows defects very well so any sort of impurities in the drywall, uneven surfaces, etc will be magnified vs if you were using a flat. However, using eggshell or semi gloss minimizes the amount of imperfections you see. But how beautiful is it to look at? I love everything about the room above. The white really stands out against the blue and it isn’t too stark. It’s filled with so much furniture but is space planned so well that it’s not cluttered…

Friday’s Fabulous Floors: Glossy Painted…

{www.highglossblue.com}

This will be the last installment of the Friday’s Fabulous Floors. Next month I will feature something new to highlight. I want to bring attention to the different materials available in home design and hope to give some insight on them as well as showcase the versatile design options. I will also continue with 1st Friday’s Fashion Conversion (in which I forgot this month so I’ll be doubling up next Friday). I hope you enjoyed the Fab Floors series where I discussed concrete, bamboo, herringbone selections to name a few. (If you haven’t read them, simply click on Friday’s Fab Floors in the category section of the site or HERE). Anyhoo this is all about high gloss painted floors. It reminds me gymnasiums back in school where the floors were so shiny. Most people don’t think of painting floors as an option, they automatically think of laying down tile, wood or carpeting. But painting with a gloss finish will afford you rich color tones.

Metallic Gold & Bronze Fabulousness…

Carlyle Penthouse eclectic bedroom
I admit, I’m more of a gunmetal kinda girl but I do love the look of bronze and golds especially paired with black & charcoal hues. It’s so much about the above and below spaces that I adore. Primarily the my love of black being utilized in such a glam way. By painting the tre ceiling gold, it doesn’t weigh the room down. I also have a thing for argyle shaped wall patterns and you know my love of tufted & faux fur anything…
