I can’t begin to tell you the joy I received while looking at Megan Hess’ home in this home at adore home’s latest issue.

I love her thought process. She doesn’t hide her fav pieces, she displays them. She likes to look at her closet and upon the first glance see things that are meaningful to her, gifts from family or things she picked up in her travels.

Every closet space I come across makes me more anxious to move…

…Into my new place which will have a walk in closet, a first for me. It’s even big enough to have a dresser inside. Cannot wait to move. I need to compile a moodboard so I can create everything I want and not miss a thing…

Or maybe I should leave my dresser out and put a small table to fold the weeks outfits in piles or display jewelry like a store…

Still need to go thrifting to find some pretty china and saucer plates for baubles.

Love the tape used to create stripes. Thinking of doing that versus painting the walls for the closet Decisions decisions.

Design Tip: if you don’t have shelving units, simply use a leaning bookshelf if hanging brackets isn’t your thing. Actually a bookshelf of any kind would work. See how this mom cave is used for storing shoes…

Creating an inspiration board with fashion figures and looks can help you select what to pair with what on days when you’re struggling with what to wear. I have been making paper moodboards of clothes, hair & makeup for over a decade. Going back to middle school, it was my way of eliminating clutter (magazines) while keeping pics that inspired me. For years I keep telling myself I will refer to those outfits I continue to snatch out and draw them…fashion illustration style.

I drew this a month ago and posted it to instagram. I liked the illustration online so drew my take. I want to devote more time to drawing. I’m too good to let that talent sit. And I want to frame my own drawings for my closet. I know I said this before…but it’s a passion of mine. Everyone who knows me knows I can draw. My day job always has me doing the creative duties of the office. I was great at drafting and rendering in college. I need to make the time. It’s just been difficult with being so cold, my energy is depleted plus I’m packing for a move which is why my posts have been scarce. I fall asleep everytime I sit down to blog…even on my lunch at work. I feel a bit overwhelmed with my task list currently…

Coming across fashion illustrations is really inspiring me to start back drawing…

{The Christian Dior Suite at the St. Regis New York Hotel}

I kind of told myself I’d start drawing x amount of minutes a week so that I can have quite a bit by June but that didn’t work. In due time. This was something everybody who has ever known me, knew me for. Drawing chicks in fly clothes. Even some people I run into from high school etc thought that I’d try fashion designing (though I never expressed the interest). It was just a talent I have and something I enjoyed doing at the time. I want to tap back into that…

It’s so cold outside, the perfect time to cozy up in a bed filled with layers…

Love the art and gold accents. It was 1 degree yesterday. Yeah, singular. degree. Ridiculous. And the wind chill last night was somewhere between negative 10 and 15. The joys of living in Milwaukee in January. Though I can’t complain cuz we’ve had a very mild winter so far with tons of 30s, 40s, and even a 55 degree day just last week! But when it’s über arctic outside, I don’t want to do a thing. I am soooo not a homebody but in the winter when it’s cold, I hibernate and leave when absolutely necessary. Laying in a layered bed filled with many pillows, different sizes, blankets and comforters is the ideal place to be. So much textural indulgences. Do you like beds with a ton of pillows? Or do you find making it up daily to be a chore with so much on it?
