I take occasional glimpses on The Covetuer’s site but I loved these next several images from style expert Mary Alice Stephenson’s floor. Yes a floor turned into a dressing room/closet. Can we say indulgence?

{Design: David Kaihoi for House Beautiful photos:Ngoc Minh Ngo} I love what David did with the two closets in red. Took what a lot of people deal with, a smaller tight closet and made it work by putting in custom shelving. Don’t have the money for it? Fine, Ikea and Target offers great storage solutions that you can install yourselves. Or just shoot on over to a hardware store and buy brackets that you can place shelves on. They usually come in a variety of sizes so you can easily achieve the look. Here’s some more tips from the Gamourai’s closet on keeping the shelves functional. Installing additional rods really maximizes the vertical space. Because often times the height of the closet is great, just not the width. But most apartments come with the standard one rod, one shelf which doesn’t help.

I’m all for repurposing frames and framing keys and other randoms. Since people consider accessories “works of art”, and since some of us feel like beautiful things shouldn’t be stored and hidden, why not frame it ? This would be slick in a dressing room or custom closet. It’s also a creative way to use wall space for storage.
I saved these images of Milly’s NY boutique via Matchbook Mag a while back and never posted. How gorgeous is it though? Really busy wallpaper isn’t really my thing but I love this above. So Parisian-esque and I can envision it in a lady’s DRESSING ROOM or POWDER ROOM. Those are the areas where you can really go crazy bold because you don’t spend tons of time in them.
Back to the boutique’s interior, it’s complete luxe and glam. Filled with feminine and geometric wallpaper patterns, crystal chandeliers, moldings, animal prints, gold finishes, mirrored tables, plush magenta and plum hued sofas and chairs, some of which are TUFTED. Just tons of fabulousness.
She even sells kids clothes. Look at this pic I found on her site.

Adorable.

Tho I have yet to own one, I have taken quite a liking to mannequins. Primarily ones in master closet suites and dressing rooms. I don’t describe myself as girly and prissy. Pink is not my go to color. I don’t own a dress outside the prom & bridesmaids dress stuck in my closet. My fav color is black. Hate carrying purses (if my personal belongings could be invisible & float in the air within my personal space, I’d be a happy camper. Shoutout to cross body bags!). However I am feminine. I do love a pair of high strappy stilettos, I am a cocktail ring lover, fashion jewelry junkie, playing up my eyes w/shadows and liners. But the idea of a personal space soley intended to primp & dress really does it for me. If I had a dressing room, it would be so girly complete with mirrored furniture and beautiful displays of all things pretty. And what better way to decorate than with a mannequin….or two…or three. The above velvet grape hued mannequins are gorgeous.

This vintage looking mannequin reminds me of the ones found at this Boutique.
