Seeing a newlywed couple exiting the wedding reception in a stylish vintage convertible just isn’t enough. You have to adorn the car in classy fun ways to let the passerbys know you just got married. Here are alternatives to the old can-on-a-string tradition.
Hang a floral wreath on the grill…
Attach a banner….
Tie a huge ribbon in a bow…
Give the steering wheel a corsage…
Tissue paper pom pom garland and custom window decals are other cute ideas…
Over the weekend I finally decided to put to use some picture frames I bought at JoAnn Fabric. I knew I wanted to take up some wall space in my bedroom and since it has a slight Moroccan influence, I figured I could use a beaded pillowcase I bought from Summerfest as art. Below is the simple tutorial…
First I cut the fabric slightly larger than needed so that I could tape the excess on the back of the mat….
I made a collage using a blush, gray, black & white color scheme and mixed different styles for seating. Adding a throw of sorts to any caged seating makes it more comfortable and withstanding the use of sofa or dining sets adds interest. Try swapping out the head chairs of a formal dining area or adding a bench to one side of the table. Mixing tables or lamps can also keep a space eclectic. The goal in design is to make a space feel collected over time and not bought in one store.
In case you missed the first of a four part installment, this is a mini series on places to put art. So many people think they don’t have wall space but in this series you may be inspired to hang art in areas of the home you never thought about. Take a look at these bathrooms with a variety of art subjects…not just seashells which is typical.
I love smell goods and products that have good fragrances. From perfumes, candles, shower gels and soaps. So I was happy when the people of Colgate-Palmolive reached out to me about trying their new decor collection of handsoaps. For me, I like anything that has an elevated look with packaging. Sometimes I have to make sure I don’t buy soley on how it looks but also the quality of the actual product. The Softsoap bottles are cute enough to keep in the original packaging…
I kept the orchid petals & mint water bottle in the bathroom because of the blue accents matched the decor and the smell was fresh…
The wild basil & lime is actually my favorite. I kept that in the kitchen because I tend to clean with citrus smelling items. Since that blend is food related, I figured it would be perfect for the kitchen. You can get yours at Target, CVS, Rite Aid or any large food store.
Softsoap handsoaps were gifted to me from Colgate-Palmotive but the review is my honest opinion of a brand I’ve been using for years.
It’s a great starting point to pull color hues and figure out what direction you want to go. Buy some new prints from Etsy shops or purchase some affordable wrapped canvas art from Target.
2 Umbrella Holders
It is after all, Spring, so you will need a place at the entry way to store wet umbrellas. Tall floor vases will also do the trick.
Probably THEE cheapest way to inject color and transform a living room or bedroom area. Colorful toss pillows can really liven a space. Pier 1 and World Market are two of my favorite places to pillow shop but Tjmaxx, Marshalls and Home Goods are the type of places where you can really get a bang for your buck. I often see pillows tied together in twos for $19/29.
I love baskets for magazines and blankets or even used for toys.
5 Garden Stools
Now is the time you will see ceramic stools everywhere. I’m glad because I passed up a few opportunities to get nice ones for only $39 at Tjmaxx/Marshalls but lately I’ve been seeing them popping up so in due time. I like them as side tables. They offer a pop of color but the stability for holding drinks.
