Merry Christmas….

image

I hope you all have a wonderful day today and have most cherished memories and times spent with friends and family. I am beyond excited that all day NBA games will be in full effect. Besides being in front of the tv with good food amd family, I will be heading over to my parent’s house to make a big breakfast and then a red velvet cake to take to my brother’s. I also plan to watch the Disney parade and Gremlins on dvr lol and read magazines. Hope Santa brings you everything you want…

Gift wrapping ideas + unique ways to wrap for men & design tips to prevent the endless search for YOUR gift

image

Tonight I will continue the tradition of going to my friend’s house and we bake cupcakes with her kids and exchange ornaments. Once the kiddies go to sleep, I will help her wrap all the gifts. The presentation of gifts is important as the thought of what’s inside but she always gets on my case because I spend too much time trying to make everything look cute. To her, it’s pointless because the kids won’t appreciate it as they rip apart everything at the speed of light. Do you take time to nicely wrap gifts?..

I love these ideas for the guys. Suspenders and ties? How creative. Using ribbon to intertwine like plaid? Masculine and how about this mustache wrapping paper. I love it…

Mixed Metals Christmas Decor….

image

I feel I need to make this PSA. I don’t want readers to feel I’m heartless because I never address what’s going on in the news whether it’s mother nature or tragedies. I find myself obsessed with the news or reading it during those times that I feel…heavy. my heart my attitude…it’s depressing. So when I want to escape those images and do something happier, the last thing I want to be is reminded. I want my blog to be happy place and not focus on negative things. So with that said…I am diggin the whole mixed metals look. I made a few collages from places like Z Gallerie, Pier 1 etc where you can create the look affordably. But I also came across this interior below.

Inexpensive decor & garland ideas using paper lunch bags!!!

image

I’m saying though….who would think to use paper bags as decor. Evidently these creative people and I am biting the above idea for a work event. A lady in our dept is retiring so this will be fun and festive. I will add letters to the bags to say congrats etc. When you factor the cost of bags, using twine, fishing line, ribbon or strings & clothes pins…this is a very cost effective way to jazz up the backdrop of a food buffet table…

Rustic Woodsy Christmas Decor…

image

Bringing the outdoors in doesn’t have to be all natural. You can add a little glitz to it. Cork, twigs, branches, woodchips, acorns and bark all play up wood themes. Glittery accents and candlelit tablescapes creates an intimate cozy space. And you can go to neighborhood stores to get the look.

And below are some snapshots from my favorite store Target below….

Winter Wonderland: Christmas & weddings

image

My favorite holiday looks are winter wonderland themes because of the branches, creating snow with luxe fabric like faux fur, illuminating candlelight, crystals and acrylic for ice. I put together a few collages with affordable pieces to create the scene in your home from stores like my beloved pier1 & Z Gallerie.

Saturday Sunday Shindigs: Let the Holiday Festivities Begin….

{via}

Here’s some inspiration on how to set those tablescapes & decorate for this weekend’s shindigis. Figured I’d post the Saturday Sunday Shindig today so you can get any last minute things if you need to in advance. If you don’t have a bar cart but have a baby or know someone who does, maybe borrow their changing table and see how you can convert it into a beverage station HERE. It’s all about repurposing what you already own. Signature drinks are the best because you can make pitchers of it and have glasses already filled versus standing around a blender all evening. It allows you time to mingle and actually ENJOY your guests. Imagine Design Blog always has cocktail recipes you can try…

Love the classic plaids up and through the place setting…

Set your walkway a glow with candles…and check out that brick. Love it…

Spray painting fallen branches is virtually free and brings that nature element into the space…

Color Schemes: Purple & Pink Christmas Holiday decor…

I had a conversation on twitter about the chance that a purple and pink tree could turn out tacky. Frankly, depending on how it’s decorated, any tree regardless of hue can become tacky. So here is a round of inspiration in a non traditional scheme that’s sure to make any girl happy. Above, I adore the display of cards on ribbon with ornaments and the ornaments and candles over the mantle. Simple easy decor ideas…

Tree decor design tips: Use beads (think Marti Gras) or ribbon instead of garland, use different sized bulbs to create more dimension, and instead of a star, use foliage and glittered branches at the tops of the tree…

I prefer ribbon a little differently but the hues are still pretty…
