Tuesday’s Tips: Picture Lights not just for pictures…..
When placing art in your home, the best thing you can do is properly illuminate the piece so that it can be appreciated in the best light. There are a few ways to do this, one being back lighting. This modern take is my personal fav. It also looks hip and cool if a built-in has back lighting. Here are some examples.

Halogen lights cast the purest white light which are said to be idea for illuminating most art. But they generate heat so they need to be placed far away enough to not affect it.

I absolutely love this living room. I tend to gravitate more toward open floor plans. However, this formal living room designed in a way that’s clean and modern without lacking the cozy comfortable feel really speaks to me. Maybe it’s the black molding and black windowsill or the use of my second favorite hue (next to black) purple……

Diamond shaped shelving units..
Would you want these kind or prefer to stick with more traditional built-ins? I like these, though only for books and I like them more color coordinated. IO Metro sells a bookcase with casters that have diagonal shelving…

What do you call the texture of this wall?
I’m moving to a new place that has this texture on the walls. I love it. I see it all the time when I tour the parade of homes. I hear it’s a little difficult painting on but I’m up for the challenge.
