Little snippets around my home…

If you follow me on instagram, these will be familiar to you. I have painted my den’s wall black and hung my Ikea picture ledges and floating shleves. That gold frame which holds my degree, is from the goodwill. I’ve been going there often with hopes of finding ornate frames to paint. My luck hasn’t been that great. So the styling of this is temporary…

I spent a portion of Saturday making spring themed gift bags for my niece and god-daughter. The gold metallic tape is being used to create faux molding as blogged about here in an art deco style. I’m not done…but Saturday was almost 60 degrees and warm weekend weather trumps house decorating any day. Lol so I wasn’t as productive because I was out and about. But I can’t wait for the end result.

image

This lies an issue. Originally I wanted a gallery wall in the dining area. The trick with grouping art is ensuring there is some level of cohesiveness. All of my frames vary which would be fine if they were all one color. They’re not. The mats within the frames are different. It’s just too much going on and visually, it’s heavy. I want to simplify a bit. I am going to either paint all of the frames black and see if that helps. If not, I may end up selling some and starting fresh. I really love the african vibe but I also adore black and white photography. So this will be changing. And that bakers rack will be turned into a huge bar cart.

Since I don’t wear these anymore, figured they would look better as bookends.

Before & After: a dramatic bathroom transformation

image

I wish I could paint my place. This black and gold bathroom brings so much jazz to such a little space. I adore ornate mirrora like the one from Ikea which they spraypainted gold. See other ornate mirrors like this or this white & leopard room here and how mirrors can really change the look of a bathroom by snatching out medicine cabinets & replacing with a decorative mirror here.

Color Schemes: Camel, Black & White…

{the Decorista}

I’ve mentioned before how my living room area is global glam safari sort of look but it’s not this nice. The white mats and art pops against the CHARCOAL WALL and everything zebra is always stylish. The gold grommet details in the TUFTED camel hued sofa is echoed in the legs of the table & frames…

{Architectural Digest}

Adore this living room interior. Layering rugs over carpeting gives the floor tons of texture. Animal prints here and there oozes a safari feel without becoming too themey. Camel colored wooden furniture warms up the space…

Masculine Interior Delights pt 1

{Architectural Digest}

So many men struggle with decorating their space and often times they mistakenly  think a space well designed has to be feminine or girly and that is furthest from the truth. Streamlined furniture, textured materials and hardware are some of the many ways to create a space suitable for a guy. Nothing says MASCULINE like pinstripes and the wallpaper above does just that. Indulge in some of the inspiration….

{Lonny Mag}

Love these teal HIGH GLOSS walls. So unexpected but it creates a  nice feel especially with the orange accents. Of course my love of zebra never fails. Color scheme reminds me of THIS

Adore the BLACK FLOORS and WALLS and how the white stands out…

Guess the celeb who spends time here…

{House and Home}

I love posting an interior and then finding out after the fact, it’s the space of a celeb. It happened first with Khloe Kardashian’s home office and now this. When I first posted about THIS above Tiffany blue, black & brown interior, I had no idea it belonged to…

Life’s a Beach: Coral, Starfish, Shells Decor…

There’s something so natural, beautiful and calming about beachy decor. This post will show you ways to take elements from the ocean and incorporate it into your home without taking the theme too literal. I especially like it because it’s part of how I decorated my bathroom. The neutral pic above is so calming to me. Certain elements like the circular shapes are repeated throughout the space from the chairs, to the mirror to the vases. Doing that in any space makes everything cohesive…

{Elle Decor}

Bookshelves are not solely for books. As I’ve blogged about HERE, you can accessorize shelving with artifacts or random collections, in this case shells, starfish and coral. With the backs of the shelves painted teal, it allows the sea life finds to pop and not get swallowed up in a white-painted unit. I also love the Moroccan Pouffe ottoman. I need one of those in my life…

{Wedding Bee}

This is such a beautiful dinner party setting. Anytime you lay pillows down to sit on, you already know it’s a relaxed atmosphere. Hanging a curtain full of capiz shells (something that be found at World Market) & using sheer fabric hung from a canopy made of sticks has such a romantic feel…

{Kelly Interior Design}

Okay, yeah the pillows are pretty literal but how cool is it on these white chairs? I love the black piping on them and the Black Walls. Yall know I will forever be biased with black walls considering my post about the OBSESSION with the color. I think with the creamy doors and mantle in conjunction with the ivory carpeting, it prevents the room from appearing too dark and drag. Continue reading for tons more…

My Obsession w/Black Continues: Charcoal Walls…

{Delight by Design}

Once dubbed as depressing and gothic is now becoming all the rage in interior design. So KNOW that I’m thrilled to see my favorite color played up on wall space. One may think it’s too dark and heavy but indulge in the pics of this post for a minute and see if you change your mind. You may not be ready for it but someone else is & fabulous rooms have been created because of it. Take the first example. That room is all sorts of sexy. Creating a border with mirrors? Genius…

{The Glam Lamb}

The gold art really picks up the grains of the wood floors & pops with the black walls. I love how streamlined the look is when art is paired up in rows of 3s. See more in my Pictures Done in Multiples post. Painting the backs of the bookshelves in gray prevents the black accessories from disappearing. I also like the selection of pillows and incorporating a camel color for the chairs…

I had a visualgasm at the sight of this tufted zebra gorgeous chair. Yall know I like my zebra stuff as much as black. I need it in my life. I can completely imagine how comfortable this must be. If you look in the mirrored reflection, you’ll see another standout piece that is the lucite desk table. And the porky pine spiked details brings a little bit of whimsy to the space…

Airy window treatments and multiple light sources (wall sconces, ceiling fixture and lamp) will  keep this room from being too dark. A few splashes of color from the pillows, books & orchid brings in some spunk. Though I’d love to see a few more accessories on the desk in fuchsia…

{Made by Girl}

Granted, this is a dark space but I still like it and I especially LOVE the way the photos line the mantel. This is the way you can display family photos without looking dated. Simply use same frame colors and same mat & sepia toned or black and white pics and viola. Other modern ideas on family portraits found in my Wall Art Inspiration Dos and Donts post…
