Tiny Tot Thursday: black and white nurseries

image

Here is a color combination you don’t see often in kids rooms: black and white. Is this too adult for you or do you like it with a punch of color?

image

Keeping rugs and some decor or furniture adult friendly can help when the child transitions to older ages…

image

Changing pillowcovers are easy and affordable ways to change a look without breaking the bank…

image

image

Adding color to the wall will make the nursery more gender specific while keeping the main items and decor gender neutral…

image

Wall decals are easy to use and removable when the room takes on a new theme or color scheme…

image

Using graphic patterns and designs can make the space fun for a child and not too serious….

image

You can soften the palette by adding gray to the mix…

image

Black rugs can hide unsightly stains that you may not have time to promptly clean…

Just a blush, black & gray collage…

image

I made a collage using a blush, gray, black & white color scheme and mixed different styles for seating. Adding a throw of sorts to any caged seating makes it more comfortable and withstanding the use of sofa or dining sets adds interest. Try swapping out the head chairs of a formal dining area or adding a bench to one side of the table. Mixing tables or lamps can also keep a space eclectic. The goal in design is to make a space feel collected over time and not bought in one store.

A home and blog with nothing but black and white…

image

Color schemes. Well for the most part at least. When I first came across Stylizimo Blog, I literally went page by page in the archives. It’s just that good. I like the poster size art which I’m slowly incorporating in my own home. I like them for the large scale and you can find inexpensive prints at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby…

Pretty kitchen styling…

This bold ceiling design is just so awesome…

Talk about an element of surprise. Everything about this design is right up my alley from the wood grain, the mirrors, the disk shaped hardware, the lighting pendants, and the color black.

Vince Camuto bedding….

image

You may be familiar with Vince Camuto’s brand of shoes but now get aquainted with his new line of bedding. Vince and his wife Louise Camuto, Creative Director of Vince Camuto, both share a passion for home décor. With inspiration from world travels, they created chic collections with influences from favorite cities around the globe. The collections are named after cities. My favorite is the Monte Carlo. The black and white is classic but the emerald sets it off.

Monday Morning Inspiration 3.31.14

image

You know how that voice in your head sometimes makes you feel inadequate? It may tell you you’re not good enough, smart enough, cannot and will not get that done. “That” thing you want to get done may be a short term, long term or life changing goal or accomplishment. Sometimes it’s not the people around you that makes us feel insecure. It may very well be ourselves.

image

We can be our biggest hater (I hate that overused word), our biggest blocker. Often times we believe our own hype. All hype aint good hype though. Don’t allow yourself to feel as if you will lose before you even get started. We have nothing but time and all we can do is try. You’d rather try than be old and wrinkly rocking away in someone’s chair mad at the things you didn’t do or attempt, right? So do them. Set those goals. Do something daily to achieve them.

Celeb Homes: Kourtney Kardashian

image

If you been following me long enough, you know I been loved the homes of the Kardashians especially Khloe’s just from watching their show. In InStyle Mag Kourt shares her beautiful home that was also designed by Jeff Andrews who is one of my favorite designers. I love his portfolio of work and the mix and many uses of texture in a space. He manages to make homes and rooms glamorous but comfortable. It’s what I call a liveable aesthetic.

Kourtney has pieces that has been in her family for years to make it feel like a home filled with memories and sentimental things. Take this desk that was Kourtney’s father’s.

Even I want to play in Mason’s room. The surfboard light “medallions” are clever…

Kourtney, who loves interior design, decorated the baby room by herself…

I love the wallpaper in her space. It gives the room a modern warmth that a solid color wouldn’t do. I like the dresser for tv stand. Using credenzas and buffets are other stylish pieces of furniture to sit a tv on top or hang over…
