Shopping with PinkLion for the holidays…

image

A while back I was introduced to PinkLion which is a company that curates products from  independent brands to bring you a seletion of modern, crafty essentials. I was gifted a print by Latte Design in my favorite theme: coffee. Anyone who knows me knows I live for my Dunkin Donuts and McCafe coffee beverages.

At first I thought I would style it in the kitchen and create a small coffee station similar to these but all of my art in my office/den is black and white so I figured I would place it there.

Excuse the quality of pictures. I took them with my Galaxy S5 but the outdoor lighting sucked that day. It was gloomy, either snowy or rainy, for days.

Remember when I blogged about putting chairs in odd corners?

image

I intially blogged about ways to make use of odd corners and featured the pic below. You can see that post here. Then I came across Coco & Kelley’s post showcasing the entire home. It’s dark and moody and the palette consists of just gray, white and black. The textures and layering allows the space to feel cozy and not become boring. It’s very masculine but fine for a woman too.

Then I saw the kitchen and realized I also blogged about that on my decorating with cutting boards post.

A calming sophisticated home by SmithBoyd Interiors

image

Michael Boyd creates a functional, sophisticated, liveable-luxe home in calming color palettes and rich in texture with tailored furniture and interesting lighting designs. The elegance is there but done in a timeless and tasteful approach. I am such of fan of this man’s design work. He really makes homes feel inviting…

I love this sitting area especially the lacquered octagon table. The creamy tone is more of a softened spin on black and white but still classic…

Such a pretty light chandelier from Restoration Hardware. Speaking of….I found out they closed down the only Milwaukee location. Shameful. You can see more of the home’s beauty over on Atlanta Homes.

Caramel apple cocktail recipes plus a fall tablescape…

wpid-picsplay_1412224425828

It’s October: a time for all things apple. Most people rave about pumpkin this and pumpkin that, pumpkin patches, pumpkin flavors, pumpkin seeds & pumpkin carving but I am all about the apples. From apple crisps to apple nachos, even … Continue reading

Tiny Tot Thursday: black and white nurseries

Here is a color combination you don’t see often in kids rooms: black and white. Is this too adult for you or do you like it with a punch of color?

Just a blush, black & gray collage…

image

I made a collage using a blush, gray, black & white color scheme and mixed different styles for seating. Adding a throw of sorts to any caged seating makes it more comfortable and withstanding the use of sofa or dining sets adds interest. Try swapping out the head chairs of a formal dining area or adding a bench to one side of the table. Mixing tables or lamps can also keep a space eclectic. The goal in design is to make a space feel collected over time and not bought in one store.

A home and blog with nothing but black and white…

image

Color schemes. Well for the most part at least. When I first came across Stylizimo Blog, I literally went page by page in the archives. It’s just that good. I like the poster size art which I’m slowly incorporating in my own home. I like them for the large scale and you can find inexpensive prints at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby…
