An excuse to share beachy pins

image

I am thrilled it’s been in the 80s as it should for an August day…but today will probably be one of our last 90+ degree days. So not only will I count down till I am off work…I am debating on how to spend the afternoon & evening soaking up the sun….

Now granted Milwaukee doesn’t have pretty coordinated umbrellas along the beach….

Or nice teak wooden lounge chairs…

No the water of Lake Michigan doesn’t always smell the best and it surely isn’t turquoise blue…

image

No our sand isn’t glitter or white…

But being down there with all the boats, hearing the waves crash against the rocks, the people renting jet skis, cabanas and those paddle boats brings me joy. It’s the best time of year here and the best thing about the city in my opinion…

Yall know I love my hot weather and tho the summer been sweltering, the last 2 weeks have been in the 70s. I am not happy because at night the temps have been in the 50s. Fall is definitely around the corner so let’s indulge in some of the last 85 degree temps we have. Going to make the most of it today as the forecast is nothing but low 70s. :-(

It’s going to be very hot again & humid this wknd so I may call a friend or two to see about hitting up the lake. Not just park on the strip but chill on the actual beach. We’ll see. Here’s to enjoying some leisure activities with sand in your toes & crashing waves…

It’s almost that time….warm weather=outdoor oasis….

No Matter how small your balcony area, you can still make the space function. You may can’t fit a table for four, but a small circular table and even one chair or two fold up chairs will allow you a chance to soak in the sun and feel the breeze. I love how the area above has a stand alone umbrella. I bought one once, but it wasn’t as sturdy as they claim it would be. :-( So I returned it.

The stone features of the patio above is epic. I mean, are you seriously going to have a table and bench styled seating with rocks enclosed in wood and wire and have it looking so fabulous? The soft pinks and blush tones with big leafy plants sprouting out of ceramic pots of the same hues is everything to me. I also dig the sail they created. Kind of looks like a DIY project with line and grommet curtains but I could be wrong. The sheer fabric blowing in the wind makes this so dreamy. Nonetheless, this space will be my phones wallpaper.

Another fab outdoor space with more bright colored pots…

Wedding Wednesday: Random Net Finds…

{Wedding Chicks}

So very romantic…

{Style Me Pretty}

A cool idea to have the bride and groom’s silhouettes for a bean bag game.   A perfect way to kill time during the cocktail hour…

 Using guests baby pics is a fun alternative to the seating chart…

It’s also fun to use the couples throwback pics for the table numbers. A perfect conversation starter…

Wedding Wednesday: Beachy Indulgences

Some key things to think about if you plan to have a beach wedding. Check out the space at the same time of day as your ceremony to determine key logistics like: will guest be facing the sun and squinting? Also try to determine when the ocean or lake looks the prettiest. They say 15 minutes before sunset is best. If the reception will flow after the ceremony, think of casual seating to fit the carefree nature of the beach vibe. Tons of pillows, blankets and candles will create a magical feel. Paper lanterns and STRING LIGHTS does wonders for giving off a romantic glow. Airy sheer fabric, burlap, and shells are some popular beach wedding elements to help transform the space. Indulge in these photos (all via Pinterest).

Wedding Wednesday: Contemporary Cabo by Colin Cowie

Every so often I look at Colin Cowie’s site…just cuz. Just to solely admire all the details put forth in each bash he designs. This wedding in Cabo is one of my favs. I mean, to have a pathway leading to the very spot you’re going to say your vows lined with planted calla lillies? Just gorgeous…

The sea of lucite ghost chairs against this serene backdrop breathtaking….

Creating a lounge area in the reception space encourages guests to mingle as if they were in a club setting…

 Allowing guests to have access from all angles to the candy buffet is a smart idea. I did the same when doing my own client’s WEDDING.

I just wanna lounge outside…

{Design Darling}

Today is going to be a high of 66 and rainy which is utterly ridiculous. How was it near 100 degrees and super humid 3 times this month and a few 80 plus days but the rest of the month has even been as low as 48 degrees. Ahhhhh thankfully next week they’re forecasting 80s. I just wanna lounge outside….
