Tuesday’s Tips: curtain panels for bathroom showers

image

I am moving in a little over a month and will have three bathrooms to decorate so I’m trying to find inspiring ideas. I have always loved the modern take on the old school curtain look for the shower. Nowadays people are using grommet curtain panels, raising the rod near the ceiling and having panels puddle to the floor. I really love this idea but I think I want to use clips to hold the fabric instead of grommets. For fact, I will have two panels….just need to zero down on fabric.

Something very enveloping and comforting happens when there are two panels. Simply use a tension rod to hang the liner and move it to one side so you don’t see it. A fabric that blends in with the tile is very chic…

Bold bathroom tile & wallpaper designs…

image

Soon I’ll be moving to my condo I’m buying and though it is move in ready, I can’t wait to be able to give my personal touch to things. One way you can do that is the bathroom. There isn’t a lot of wall or floor space usually so wallpapering a powder room or laying higher end flooring shouldn’t be too costly because you have a small area to work with.

It also may fit your budget if you splurge on marble for the bathroom sink vanity versus in a kitchen for countertops. You can sometimes find affordable slabs of stone that can get cut and sized to fit your needs in hardware stores or tile shops. A lot going on with patterns in the above bathrooms but it all works because it’s in the same color scheme…

I love how this bathroom has two mirrors on opposite ends giving it the illusion of a larger area….

Vertical stripes will make the ceiling of a bathroom feel higher…

The dentil molding in this bathroom is everything! I plan to add some sparkle to my walls and ceiling with chandeliers. Even a flush mount fixture will be enough to add some ambience to a bathroom or hall…

Changing hardware, lighting and decorative mirrors can add the oomph you need to tranform a bathroom into a fabulous space…

Bathroom virtual design…

image

I know….another bathroom post for the week. My friend in Atlanta wanted a virtual design for her guest bathroom. She already purchased this vanity and a matching cabinet. After consulting with her and finding out the light fixture she purchased was in bronze,  I came up with these options to choose from. I wanted the rest of the fixture and hardware options to be in the same metal as the light. I gave her three potential color schemes to go with. I also advised her to remove the builder basic mirror and replace with a decorative mirror. You can find some sizeable mirrors at Marshalls, Tjmaxx and Homegoods for as low as $24. I also gave her some tile options. Did you know Home Depot has adhesive tile that has an easy installation and can be removed with a hair dryer? The subway tile and mosaic tile in the last design are adhesive. It’s great mess-free update for those who rent and can’t do anything permanent. To help aide in her decision I gave her sources, paint colors and some drawings to show her how to style it. Which design would you pick?

Bathrooms with black walls….

image

You know black is my favorite color and though I wouldn’t want the walls of a lone bathroom black, I wouldn’t mind having one if I had several bathrooms to design. There is something so dramatic about a powder room that’s moody and bold in dark walls or wallpaper. Whether paint or tile, you will see the boldness is in full bathrooms in this post.

Tuesday’s Tips: from bar cart to bathroom cart

image
If you are one of those people with a ton of products you use daily, you may want them in arms reach. Cluttering a surface without a tray is such an eyesore and maybe you have little ones that may accidently drop products styled on the toilet. A repurposed bar cart will comes in handy…

Designs and dimensions in tile, doors and furniture

image

I saw AKDO’s tile on pinterest and loved the design. I can see this as backsplash for a stove with gold fixtures.  So pretty…

Then I saw this which is making some patio awfully fabulous. See more here

This door is amazing. Talk about an entrance…

The lines of this desk reminds me of the one Kelly Wearstler used here

This room has a lot of dimension too in the form of the many textures through out: wood paneled walls, woven headboard, quilted blanket, leather tufted bench. Textures gives interest in an earthy color palette or monochromatic design. Do you like dimension or prefer flush smooth surfaces?

A feminine Bathroom Design

image

I created a bathroom in a simple white and gray palette with silver and mercury glass accents. I opted for a decorative mirror versus a medicine cabinet. It’s one of the easiest way to update bathroom and something I blogged about here. I wanted shine and a hint of sparkle with classic designs like the floor mat which looks like marble. A pedestal vanity with space to hold some pretty decorative perfume bottles was a must. I can’t stand a pedestal sink that barely has room for anything other than soap. To continue with the feminine vibe I went for a beautiful lace shower curtain. The marble modern clock echos the mat and marble sink. I really like this space. You can find the items I selected for the collage here.
