Battle of Celeb Pads: Adam Levine Versus Jonathan Adler

image

Arranged around an inner courtyard one open living area with a view is where Jonathan Adler lives. He has an indoor fire pit, skylights, and a groovy Palm Springs–style pool pavilion. Lisa Gray and Alan Organschi of the Connecticut firm Gray Organschi Architecture were hired, in addition to Hamptons builder Carlos Routh. The landscape was done by Vickie Cardaro of Buttercup Design Group…

Obsession: A guy’s way of life in design & storage…

Something is wrong with me. I’m not super duper girly. I don’t wear dresses and my style is moreso skinny jeans, a v-neck shirt under a blazer or cropped jacket. But I do love feminine things like my cocktail rings, bangles & cat eye (which I been rockin since high school, before it became trendy again…after all my eyes are slanted) and will wear some stilettos in a minute but…I still love me some masculine interiors. I like contemporary design and the clean simplicity of it all. I may not want that for my own space but…I still crave the images. If I were rich, I’d have one home solely devoted to the style…

A Man’s loft style…

image

I enjoy seeing high end glam homes that glaze our magazines but I also enjoy seeing how regular folks live. Something about a regular person’s home tour makes ideas feel more tangible to pull off. People’s creativity usually run wild when funds are limited. I also enjoy a good ol’ man cave. A man with home style makes this woman impressed…

image

Take this entry way. Living in a loft, oftentimes the look can feel cold and hard so to soften the walls, fabric was used. I love a fabric wall. It can be incredibly feminine like here or masculine. It depends on the fabric selected and a rich velvet in a dark hue does the trick. The horn table can be apart of my decor anyday…

Fellas, this one is for you…

I know I blog mostly about feminine things and interiors but I still like to give my fellas some inspiration every now and then. Nothing wrong with having a place tidy and neat. This bookshelf is a great example of how storage boxes and baskets can keep essentials in order. Add in luggage for good measure. The walls are pretty slick too.

Ever think of using a mirror as a headboard? Yeah. I’m sure the guys will like that one but it’s a great way to make a room feel larger and looks cool in the process…

Manly Spaces Fabulous Places….

Men, here are some more examples of how to live with style in your space.

via

This is such a good use of space. I know that often times guys especially younger men still in college, want their space to feel like their own. Living in a basement does not have to be drab and dry. A mix of textures and furniture pieces, rugs that anchor and separate spaces, and good space planning makes a smaller room functional. The light bulb pendants over the headboard is so cool. There are mirrors behind the nightstands which helps create the illusion of a bigger space. Recessed lighting as well as other lamps provide for adequate lighting. The modern furniture pieces are beautiful. The layering of rugs on carpeting keeps it cozy. I love this space.

What a nice reading nook. The pinstripe walls gives it a nice touch…

Wanna see how R&B’s dancing machine Chris Brown lives?

A multi million dollar contemporary styled multi level home with plenty rooms with a view. This masculine interior with it’s clean lines and streamlined design is everything I would expect for a young entertainer.

A lot of 90 degree angles and glass surfaces turns a lot of people off from modern design because they feel it’s cold. However one can simply add curved accessories and decor, headboards and furniture to make it more softer.

Chris’ color palette consists of a lot of cool colors like grays, chromes and black. However one can use earth tones and warm hues to give it a cozier feel. Offset a lot of the materials with plush fabric like faux furs,  cashmere, and other textures.
