Tiny Tot Thursdays: circus and carnival themes

image

I am so in love with vintage carnival and circus themed parties, showers and themed bedrooms. This one is so adorable and rustic with bales of hay, wooden crates, etc…

image

I am a sucker for marquee lights and I think the flowers out of the popcorn boxes are genius for centerpieces. There are so many fun ideas you can do for this type of party or shower like hiring a magician, clown, face painter or caricature artist….

image

Lovely roman shades and pretty hot air balloons give a whimsical yet classy carnival spin for this themd nursery….

image

Wants and Wishes Designs offers a pretty softened palette of circus party supplies. How cute is this clown  lollipop holder?

image

I love this centerpiece idea to give a food display or table some height. Using tickets and boxes of animal crackers or cracker jacks to make a pyramid can also double as favors for kids at the end of the party. Buy plastic animals to paint or sprinkle with glitter to top the centerpieces and cakes…

Use fabric to form “curtains” around backdrops for a photo booth or against the wall….

Pt 2 of Holiday Party Ideas: Casino Board Game Night

image

I love a good old-fashioned game night. Throw in cocktails and dress up attire and you’re on your way to a fun filled Vegas themed party. I am buying a condo and one of the first things I want to host is a game night. It would be awesome if I knew a blackjack dealer and bartender but even if the drinks are self-served, it’s sure to be a hit. This post has some party inspiration for your next get-to-gether or New Years Eve bash… If you haven’t read it, you can read Part 1’s wine & cheese tasting party idea here.

image

The decorations are virtually things you may have on hand. If not, go to the Goodwill and grab a few games to complete the look. Dominos, puzzle & scrabble pieces, cards, poker chips are all great for centerpieces.
image
Fill martini glasses, Dollar Tree vases and mini fish bowls with the items. Plan on having kids present? Then use battery operated candles that flicker. This is also a way to get use out of a board game with missing pieces or an incomplete deck of cards…

image

Set up a signature drink or two in dispensers or pitchers and encourage guest to pour it up themselves, freeing you of bartender duties and allowing you to enjoy the party…

Holiday Entertaining Ideas: Wine and Cheese Tasting party…part 1 of 5 series.

image
I read this article and I like how one of the commenters said that he doesn’t always make time for his friends when his schedule allows. He said he sometimes just stops by if he’s in the area of their work or home. Sometimes he only stays for 10 mins but he puts forth the effort. I think that is important. Not dropping by unannounced but making time….any time to see people you love. Though many people have families and a busy schedule to maintain, it’s important you also maintain those relationships outside of social media. So I’m all for having fun ways to get together with friends or cousins etc. It may be a once a month like having a monthly “happy hour” at home or it could be a weekly gathering.

image

It doesn’t always have be on the weekends, as I think it’s even better to sometimes let loose and have a bit of fun during the week. Who doesn’t want to recharge on hump day and have something really fun to look forward to on Mondays? So this will be the first of a 5 part series where I give you a few fun party ideas to have with friends (or family).

image

There are so many wonderful ways to display a cheese and meat spread and looking at these insanely gorgeous pics makes me want to do one soon. I like this idea of a cake stand stacked to create a tower…

image

Toothpicks and mini labels for the toothpick flags telling guests the kind of cheeses served…

image

Use chalkboard platters or paper…

image

Make sure you have a variety of crackers, olives and grapes…

image

Give height to items further back by placing platters on phone books or sturdy boxes…

image

Figs, blackberries and nuts round out the platters…

image

Labeling is key on case someone is allergic to certain types of nuts. Wine glasses or apothecary jars filled with bottle corks are a nice touch…

My Packers Party Decor….

image

Remember when I introduced you to Big Dot of Happiness? Well here is the custom party decor I used to decorate a small Packers Party gathering last weekend….

image

So the plates, napkins, cups, banners, confetti and table top decor all came from Big Dot of Happiness from their football themed collection and you can pick the colors to fit your favorite team’s colors.

image

Anytime you have a football party, you have to have cupcakes that reps your team!

Happy Thanksgiving! My tablescape with Sparkle & Dine…

image

Hello. I hope you all are enjoying the aromas and good food in the comfort of your families and friends. Today I share some decorating that is a collaboration with Sparkle and Dine, a company that creates themed parties in a box. I used items I had on hand and added Sparkle and Dine’s faux croc table runner, mercury glass candle holders and napkin rings (which I used to hold votive candles)…

image

I wanted to create a glam centerpiece idea along the length of the runner. I added candleholders at different heights, layered different textures with a tall vase full of branches and feathers for drama.

image

I wanted a color scheme that had the bright orange you see in the fall but with muted tones like gray and black and a little sparkle with silvers….

Shopping with PinkLion for the holidays…

image

A while back I was introduced to PinkLion which is a company that curates products from  independent brands to bring you a seletion of modern, crafty essentials. I was gifted a print by Latte Design in my favorite theme: coffee. Anyone who knows me knows I live for my Dunkin Donuts and McCafe coffee beverages.

image

At first I thought I would style it in the kitchen and create a small coffee station similar to these but all of my art in my office/den is black and white so I figured I would place it there.

image

Excuse the quality of pictures. I took them with my Galaxy S5 but the outdoor lighting sucked that day. It was gloomy, either snowy or rainy, for days.
