Tiny Tot Thursday: end of summer backyard cinema party

image

Can you believe it’s back to school season? Crazy right. I can’t believe how fast the summer is going. Next week is my Arizona trip and though I am very excited, I’m also sad. Soon the weather will turn crisp so we have to enjoy the last few weeks of the season. Why not celebrate with a backyard movie party. This is a great way to let the kids get that last late night hang out with friends before school starts. It works too for teens, college aged adults or even grown ups. Here are some ideas to inspire you…

image

If you want to stick with a budget friendly option, use a white sheet…

image

image

No movie is complete without popcorn stations. Have an assortment of gourmet flavors or simply have different salts and seasonings so moviegoers can create their own…

Lastly, you want to create the most relaxing seating arrangement so everyone has a good view. Create a “floor” level using picnic blankets then elevate some on wooden palettes. Comfy pillows, cushions, and blankets are a must. Also think about string lights, lanterns and tiki torches so everyone can see.

Wedding Ceremony Backdrops…

image

A pretty backdrop for the exchange of rings and vows sets the tone for the rest of the wedding festivities. How beautiful are these venue designs? It’s always amazing how event planners can coordinate ideas with florist and photographers, linen rental companies and stylists to create memorable moments for a bride and groom. If you had to pick, which one would you prefer: chiffon flowing ceiling fabric in a barn…

image

Potted topiaries and chandeliers to complete an architectural backdrop…

image

A canopy of orchids…

image

Crystals from branches and candles along the aisle…

image

A little greenery foilage and a flood of natural light…

image

Or a single lone chandelier and sail for a woodsy ceremony…

Don’t forget you have a few more days to leave a comment and let me know what you would order at Fleming’s Steakhouse for a chance to win a $100 gift card. I have the gift card at home and will pick a winner Friday August 1st. Enter here.

Practical Wedding Favors Guests Will Actually Use…

image

Weddings are fun and recpetions are better but often bride and grooms overthink favors that guests end up throwing away. Careful planning and more attention to other details like reception entertainment and weather can keep guests comfortable and happy. This post has some favor ideas that will actually get used. I like the game station above. This could easily be for kids or adults who prefer to stay off the dance floor. Dollar Tree has board games like Checkers and 2-pack decks of cards and tons of puzzles for an inexpensive way to entertain. Just make sure you dont have too many options because you don’t want the reception to look like a boring bingo hall…

image

Most women wear heels to weddings so you may want to keep a basket of cheap Old Navy flip flops so they can stay on the dance floor as long as they want. Maybe have one basket per size ( ex: a basket for size 7 & 7.5’s). This idea is also nice for beach weddings because you’re bound to have someone show up in inappropiate shoes…

image

Paper wedding parasols offer shield from a sunny sky in an outdoor ceremony….

image

Leaving shades on each seat is another way to ensure all guests are comfortable & if nothing else, they will make for a great photo op…

image

Pairing fans with programs is a great way to keep guests cool in a hot venue…

image

Who wouldn’t want a nice throw? Have some available in case the temperature drops at an outdoor evening reception…

Tiny Tot Thursday: babies in weddings

image

By now we all heard about that foolishness of a bride with a baby sewn into her wedding train and dragged down the aisle. Well here are some classy ways to incorporate babies and toddlers in weddings: wedding wagons…

image

I adore this domed Cinderella wagon so much…

image

image

image

You could even have the kids in a wagon decorate the cans to really incorporate them…

image

Know of a cool way to include a baby?

image

As an alternative to traditional flower girl roles, have them hold signs…

There are so many classy options for kids so don’t drag anymore babies down the aisle m’kay?

I have been beating myself up because I haven’t been as productive as I should. Nice weather kind of trumps getting anything done but this week I am not going to allow myself time for leisure until I cross off some main things from my task list. One thing that has slacked is my blogging. I will get it back together one of these days. I still have to share the sweet sixteen party I styled a few weeks ago. Anyhoo, cheers to a productive week!
