If I could change 1 thing about this monochrome living room

image

I love the walls and molding details. The curtains are romantic and dreamy. I pretty much like this space except….I would change the seating. I don’t like the slipcovered look and would rather see a creamy tufted chesterfield sofa with two modern sleek armless chairs  anchoring the couch. What would you change?

Miami home tour with a modern sky blue twist

image

This is pretty much what I think of when I think of Miami penthouses in the sky. The monochromatic color of water with lacquered furnishings and modern lines is quite beautiful.

This mirror is everything…

This is what I thought all furniture would look like after year 2000. Growing up, I thought by now we’d all dress futuristic in silver like TLC, have cars that fly and just very curvy and odd shaped furniture. Don’t judge me. But this would have fit my vision. I like the metallic wallpaper throughout and what was done with the column as well.

Finally found images of the Kardashian/Jenner residence designed by Jeff Andrews

image

One Kardashian family member was quoted saying “If something is merely beautiful as a piece of art, that’s one thing. But when you need to live in a space and have it function as your life does, that’s where good design happens.” I agree. I watch that family’s show and it’s spinoffs…..sue me. But part of the reason is the settings backdrop has always been fabulous. I like deep tones and lots of textures, elements of Hollywood glam with reflective finishes all the while keeping the space liveable. You don’t view their home as a place you can’t relax in and touch and it’s something I feel Jeff Andrews has designed quite well. It’s luxurious in the materials but still has a liveable comfortable aesthetic. I’d move in…..sans all the people.

I believe Kourtney Kardashian was interviewed here by Oprah…

Celeb Homes: Ivanka Trump

image

Complete opposite of her dad’s aesthetic, Ivanka has penthouse decorated with nice finishings but with a sense of liveable comfort. One may ask why disrupt the view of the floor to ceiling windows with a dresser but I think it’s a way to keep some privacy…

image

The monochromatic room is gender neutral and calming. Love the wallpapered ceiling…

image

This metallic mural is a pretty backdrop for the foyer…

image

I guess when I think of Ivanka, I wouldn’t envision this as her workspace. I do like the bold hue of the desk. And the cubed bookshelving is nicely styled and functional.

image

Picking up where the desk left off is a grid styled gallery wall of the same color. I like it a lot.

A cluster of vases, candleholders and jars make for great centerpieces & mantle styling…

image

You know why I really like this look? Because one can easily go to a rummage sale, thrift store or the Goodwill and purchase random ones in any style or color. All you have to do is buy spraypaint & viola!

You know what I like…a black windowsill or conservatory…

image

Unsure if it's because black is my favorite color or just the fact that a black window pane, door frame or conservatory looks more fabulous. Whatever the case, I find myself drawn to interiors with large doors or windows in black...

image

No need to paint the walls when the furniture and decor explodes with so much color...

Rooms with a view 2.3.12…

image
I normally don’t gravitate to white interiors like most people. It’s clean, it’s fresh but seems totally unattainable. I like the spaces but couldn’t live there myself. However these are designed so well. Different textures, fabulous skyline views and yall know how I love me some skyscrapers. Then to top it off with herringbone floors! I’m sold.

Design Inquiries: Where can I get the wallpaper in the attic closet post?

Back in December I received an email From Alex of New York who has an older home and would like to make an attic closet similar to this post. Unfortunately my searches yielded no results on the specific wallpaper. However the design was metallic, floral and reminded me of Chinoiserie. SO I figured I’d give a ton of examples of other interiors with Chinoiserie designs.

{Desire to Inspire}

This is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. The metallic sheen and subtle monochromatic colors doesn’t make this too IN YOUR FACE. It’s perfect to give pop to an entryway.

{Little Green Notebook}

So magical for a girl’s bedroom. It’s like it tells a story…

{Holiday Boutique}

I like how they also painted the ceiling and didn’t forget that it’s indeed a fifth wall.

My Doors are always open…

{Vogue.com}

Nothing like some pretty doors…

love the contrast between the dark doors & the light dining room they open to…

{Delight by Design}
These double doors are so industrial, you would think they would be in a downtown converted loft with exposed beams….

{Pinterest}
Graphic painted or patterned tile floors like these HERRINGBONE ones are great alternatives to rugs. I like the way this glamorous bathroom’s neutral palette is brought out through the floor’s design. The killer are the beige NAILHEAD trimmed doors…
{House and Home}

I’ve come across this pic many times & I try to stay away from photos that have circulated on a lot of blogs but it’s fitting. To open the doors to a custom closet with painted shelving…..a dream. I love how the boxes stand out against the charcoal walls. See more looks like this HERE

If you had double doors, where would they lead? A master closet? Ginormous bathroom? Outdoor terrace from a bedroom suite?
