Happy Halloween…

image

Annually I look forward to watching all the talk shows & their Halloween specials, the unique costumes, creative party ideas I can steal for clients…but it’s different this year. None of my shows on dvr has their usual. Everyone is in either postponing or just doing it next year. Shout out to any readers on the east coast. I hope you’re safe.

One thing I do love hearing is all the people focusing on the simplier things because they have no choice. Kids learning how to play card games, people picking up books to finish reading, romantic candlelit dinners…even if their meals was nothing more than chips & dip. It was nice seeing all the ways people are dealing with the power outages on instagram…

I know I didn’t prepare a post for cool shindig ideas in advance but pumpkins are still okay for the month of November. It’s harvest time so you can still snag a few non carved ideas to decorate some tablescapes for Thanksgiving…

Apple baking & decorating: wedding centerpieces, cider stations, recipes & candy apple parties

image

In Wisconsin we had a super mild winter which had an impact on our apple orchards so a lot of farms didn’t offer apple picking due to the shortage. I was looking forward to it too since I went last year. But it’s still a great time to bake, cook, drink….and even decorate with the fruit…

image

When people have fall weddings, especially rustic barn ones, I love to see apples on display. Paired with wine barrels and other woodsy elements like branches, it offers a pretty fall atmosphere…

image

But you don’t have to have an outdoor wedding. An upscale one inside a hotel is just fine…

image

My favorite part of fall is caramel apples….and fall colors. You can set up an interactive candy apple bar for a fun end to a party. That can serve as guests’ favors as well for a wedding…

Apple cider stations are another great way for guests to mingle….

I destroyed an apple crisp a few weeks ago. I put it on broil because I was too impatient with it baking. Walked away & four minutes tops….the top layer was charred. I said I enjoy cooking, not baking. But I will master it because it’s just so good.

I recently did a Rachael Ray recipe with maple glazed apples, potatoes & sweet onions. I’m very picky but it was good surprisingly. I want to try the above.

Wedding Wednesday: Halloween Chic Edition…

via

Yeah there are actual people who love the holiday so much that they have weddings centered around it. I love Halloween too but…not this much. However these people managed to have some pretty classy affairs, despite the theme. What do you think?

Saturday Sunday Shindig: Fun pumpkin & Halloween decor ideas…

{All You}

I figured I might as well give you some ideas for any Halloween bashes since we have one week left.

So you want to have some curb appeal whenever you’re decorating for any holiday. It’s always a fine line between festive and cheesy. I don’t cosign cheesiness. What I do cosign is chic whimsical decor. For those of you who are really into it, a half gallon of paint will be more than enough to give your door a pop of color. I think this works well if the palette of your home is already neutral. A lot of you all have outdoor seating. Perfect opportunity to switch out the pillows and cushions for ones in whatever Halloween color scheme you’re going with. I personally like the following: red, cranberry & black…black, white & orange…orange, black & purple or black, gunmetal, silver. A feather wreathe is something Pier 1 would have.

Love these bats. It’s festive without overdoing it. A simple plant urn with pumpkins adds to the fun…

Speaking of urns, how about this fun idea with mannequin legs?
