Tuesday’s Tips: paint these unexpected household items to liven the space

image

While going through Pinterest I noticed trend on my DIY board. There are so many things you can paint around the home…some unexpected to spruce up things up and add color. I especially dig Ikea’s gold leaf transformation of a basic chair. Check out my Pinterest to go to the sites of the projects.

Really loving me some lion pulls for dressers …

In many of my door posts I have become more fond of lion door knockers. But ever since this post I have been really obsessed with them and want to put them on my closet doors. But after seeing this I feel like I need to add them to a dresser drawer. They just give the oomph exclamation point to the final look.

I’m inspired by bright lacquered animal statues and figurines…

image

Designer Miguel Palacio has something in common with me. We both have animal statues. Mine are a panther and elephant. In giving my old decor new life, I spraypainted mine. Jonathan Adler was the inspiration as his home decor lines always feature bright colored animals. I loved the dogs from the Barbie House he designed here.

So yeah…all of this made me spray paint mine a cobalt blue and chartreuse.

Before and after…

I love how they turned out. I will be posting other spray painted items so follow along on my instagram. See more painted animals below…
