Hello. I hope you all are enjoying the aromas and good food in the comfort of your families and friends. Today I share some decorating that is a collaboration with Sparkle and Dine, a company that creates themed parties in a box. I used items I had on hand and added Sparkle and Dine’s faux croc table runner, mercury glass candle holders and napkin rings (which I used to hold votive candles)…
I wanted to create a glam centerpiece idea along the length of the runner. I added candleholders at different heights, layered different textures with a tall vase full of branches and feathers for drama.
I wanted a color scheme that had the bright orange you see in the fall but with muted tones like gray and black and a little sparkle with silvers….
A while back I was introduced to PinkLion which is a company that curates products from independent brands to bring you a seletion of modern, crafty essentials. I was gifted a print by Latte Design in my favorite theme: coffee. Anyone who knows me knows I live for my Dunkin Donuts and McCafe coffee beverages.
At first I thought I would style it in the kitchen and create a small coffee station similar to these but all of my art in my office/den is black and white so I figured I would place it there.
Excuse the quality of pictures. I took them with my Galaxy S5 but the outdoor lighting sucked that day. It was gloomy, either snowy or rainy, for days.
That is the tagline for a new-to-me party supplier called Big Dot of Happiness. I am swamped with a lot of junk in my inbox but this was a pleasant find. Not only are they also Wisconsin based (whoo hoo) but they have a huge selection of party themes that will probably make you stop going to local party stores. I’m talking comic book themes, dog party themes (more on that) and more.
Not only are the themes cute but they are affordable and delivered quickly.
I think the best thing you can do is have a hostess drawer, china cabinet, or closet that contains everything you will need to host an event. You would include itema like patterned straws, tablecloths and linen, napkins, napkin rings, table runners, unscented candles, gold or fancy flatware, cupcake holders and cake stands, wine glasses, basically all of the things you could use to help create a tablescape on a whim.
I logged in wordpress and realized today marks year 4 that I’ve been blogging. I didn’t realize it but gosh time flies. I wanted to take a moment to give thanks to those who continue to read in this little corner of the web world, those who email and leave comments like my girl Style Fragment. I appreciate the pins and likes and all of the support. Thank you.
I can’t believe how fast the year is flying by. Already stores are airing holiday commercials and shoving Christmas down our throats. Can we please just gear up for Thanksgiving? It’s one of the best things about November. Actually, I can’t really make a list of other great things about this month because up here it gets so cold that the only thing I want to do is hibernate, read, watch nba and dvr’d shows and sleep.
I guess dressing in layers, cozy fireplaces, hot chocolate beverages and scents of cinnamon are good things about November…
And plaid. I need to buy some plaid. ..
I also like harvest decor. It’s rustic and festive. Stuff like burlap, branches, pumpkins and candles make all the difference in a tablescape….
Entertaining family and friends and reflecting on your blessings and being present in the moment are other good things about November. You can’t help but think of all the good food, eating and baking you will do. I am a great cook but I don’t bake. However I’ve been itching to do more baking this fall. I witnessed how easy it is to make an apple pie and want to try my version of it. I already made an apple crisp which was delicious under a scoop of ice cream. I also want to make a peach cobbler as I haven’t made one in years. Baking and cooking allows you to share meals made with love with people who appreciate it. That’s a good thing to look forward to this month.
I guess there are great things about November. Hopefully this month is better than last which had quite a bit of negatives including an uncle and great aunt passing within two weeks of each other. After the funeral this week, I hope more joys and highs are in store this month for me and my family. For now, it’s Sunday….indulge in what makes your happy. I know I will. :-)
Have any plans for tonight? It’s cold and super windy here and the leaves are high in the sky like tornado debri. It really is a perfect setting for Halloween. I will be someplace warm and engulfed in the first home game of the season for the Bucks. I love nba season and it’s one of the few things I look forward to when the seasons change…
I just love these edgy and glam pumpkins via the Life Styled Blog. They are good enough for Halloween but even better for Turkey day. Just use carvable faux pumpkins from Michael’s…
Glitter and feathers and printed napkins? Sounds like a pretty festive affair for a masquerade dinner party. See the rest on Formal Fringe. Whatever you do, be safe and have fun. You might as well indulge in all the goodies because the rest of the year is pretty much downhill from here, sweets wise…
