I do 95% of my blogs via my phone. I didn’t think I could move from blogging from the computer but it allows me the versatility to be anywhere…whether I’m out & about, kickin it…whatever. I can blog. I dislike laptaps which is why I fancy my wordpress apps etc. Well lately my phone has been tripping. It dims and blacks out and it would happen days after I removed the insurance. Smh.

So yesterday my phone dimmed to the point I couldn’t see a thing. It stayed dark for hours. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I am not the person that texts at dinner or on dates or anything. I’ll take a pic if needed but that’s about it. Yet…whether I use the phone all the time or not…I want to know it’s there, capable of being operated. The thought of all the images downloaded that I’d have to transfer to the computer, all of the sites I saved in my bookmarks to browse when I had more time, the absence of being able to see my texts when I can hear the notification….all drove me crazy for those few hours my phone went dark.

I went into insert cell company here…they don’t cut me a check so no free promotion to see about upgrading since I am due. I just haven’t taken the time to go cuz let’s face it, who wants to stand for a couple hours going thru the motions of getting a new phone. I dread it every single time. But I went. Only to find out my discount with my job doesn’t apply in the store. Yep, annoyed I was. Not to mention doing it online via my company’s discount site would save me almost $50. Which can be better spent on my trip to Atlanta for my 30th bday in Sept which I’m accepting gifts for ;-) . Sooo needless to say I will go online and just order it and wait the week for it to arrive.

I then left and called my parents but mom wasn’t there. I told my dad to let her know my phone’s status and that i could barely see the screen enough to call & how I didn’t know how much longer my phone will hold up. (So they wouldn’t be alarmed if they couldn’t get to me). To which he replied sarcastically “what would you ever do without your phone”. :-/ Truth be told, he’s right. We’re all so glued to these things like life doesn’t go on without them. I know I got my license before I had a cell when pagers were in style and never once did I fear getting behind the wheel because god forbid something happened, I wouldn’t have a way to call for help. Nowadays, I can be in a rush somewhere and get right on the hwy and realize I left my phone & get RIGHT BACK OFF to go get it. That’s really pathetic…

Life does go on without phones…laptops and any other thing we plug up. So today…or the weekend…hell, maybe even weekly, try indulging in some unplugged time. Go enjoy nature, have girl (or guy) talk over drinks/beer, read or do absolutely nothing. Yeah, you may do it with relief because you know your gadgets are all working should you decide to plug in again. But in my case, if my phone blacks out & I’m unable to use it…to call, text or blog, I will try my best to enjoy it. To enjoy life without, checking this & that message. Without stopping to take a picture of every single mundane thing. To just live…in the moment while unplugged….

  1. Girl, you need to unplug! Blogging from your phone? I can’t even begin to imagine doing that. I’m sure it’s convenient but I’d lose my mind if I added anything else to the gazillion things I already use that thing for. I think your phone did this on purpose so you can find some chill time. Enjoy it!
